The hostel itself is nice, we had a huge room with loads of character. The problem is the staff; the woman who dealt with breakfast looked like she hated her job and never smiled and hardly ever spoke to us. The owner was nice, but we saw her twice in our 3 night stay. The day we left there was nobody around to give the keys to and after the taxi they had booked for us didn't turn up we had to ring the owner to help-she had just left us to fend for ourselves.

We loved the old style of the house, the big kitchen the nice shower, good breakfast and the friendliness and helpfullness of the owner. Thank you for adding to our positive experience of Rio!

I loved this B&B. Baron Garden is a beautiful old mansion with a gorgeous pool & garden for mature travelers. If you are wanting a non-party hostel (doesn't mean you cant go out to Lapa and party!) that attracts interesting people, then this is the place for you. Gloria is centrally located making it easy to get to Sugar Loaf, Christo, beaches, museums, shopping... Very clean with helpful staff.

A very nice and calm old mansion with a large open view over Flamego beach. The place is very (incredibly) charming, with a swiming pool and a little garden with an amazing view over Flamego bay. The people are very nice and the owner even more! The price is a very good deal, with breakfast included! Only weakness, if you are lazy, climbing the hill will be hard for you... I really worth it! Want to have a rest in a charming place: Baron Garden is made for you!!!

I think what would be great when arriving (or the day after) is to have a visit of where things are. I arrived destroyed from my trip from Europe, but it took me a while to understand where was what (the second bathroom, the access to the swimming pool, internet...). And I was not sure if in some places I could go or not (e.g. living room with door open next to the dorms). Otherwise the place is very nice and I understand why people want to stay for longer period as it has a homely feel.

Wonderful atmosphere in this old mansion. Professionally run, because owner also lives in the house. You feel "at home". Great view from house over the city, and centrally located for Lapa fun. And since it was not fully booked, there was "free check-out time" wonderful! Highly recommended

I paid a little over the odds to stay in a dormitory in this hostel, but due to the quality of this accommodation I am very happy I did. Whilst staying here, I was in my last leg of a 3 month stay in Rio. Throughout the duration of this stay, this was without doubt the best hostel I stayed in. The house was huge and not overly crowed like many other hostels and had such an authentic character to go with it. If you are looking for somewhere to stay a few chilled days, this is definitely it!

It's very unique hotel with spacious room, excellent breakfast and very nice owner ( I didnt have the chance to say goodbye to Iaci, sorry :) ). It has big garden too, overlooking the marina area, very peaceful and relax to sit there when sunset time. Flamengo beach & marina is very near too (there's a shortcut, walking distance approx 15min but quite hard climb up the stairs again when otw back ;p). If you want a hostel that feels like home, this is definitelly the place to stay. Thanks Iaci :)
