We stayed in the standard double room and it smelt like excretion/sewage. No good restaurants nearby by. Staff told us it would take one and a half hours to get to Morro de São Paulo. It took three and a half to four hours. I do not recommend going there for a day trip. New showers needed.

We stayed there for about a week and it was so convenient! Really fun and relaxed atmosphere where we met super cool people. It was the perfect hostel vibe and we made some nice travel friends! Some highlights included going out in Pelorino on Tues night, Rio Vermelo on Fri night and Jam no Mam on Sat night with the other guests in the hostel, and drinking caparinhas every evening and doing yoga in the front area!

Good location a couple of blocks from the beach and a bunch of restaurants to choose from. Clean and comfortable.

The hostel was very nice, excellent ladders, personal lights and plugs, free capirinhas . Mattress was thin and needed replacing. Very quiet so as a solo traveller not the best place to go, arranging tours proved very difficult if you are on your own and overpriced. If i had been there as part of a group or in a couple I would have enjoyed my stay more as I did not feel safe going out in Salvador on my own.

Excellent helpful English speaking staff in a relaxed safe hostel. They do tours - both of which we enjoyed immensely. Top hostel stay in Brazil so far!

The staff were great - especially Olivia - who went out of her way to ensure we saw as much of Salvador as possible. This was at a budget hotel standard, better than expected from a hostel, and would recommend anyone to stay here. I also really liked the fact that there was free internet and everything was so easy to organise.

Awesome location with short walk near the beach, (although watch out with walking by yourself in the late night - like with all of Salvador). Olivia was an awesome receptionist, very helpful, and down to Earth. Breakfast was amazing, especially the Spanish Omelette and the cake. People in the hostel were awesome and laid back, really easy to get a long with and really friendly.

The rooms where good, the beeds are a bit hard but there is a power outlet for every bed, which for me is a very important feature that should be a must for all hostels but unfortunately is not. All beds have lockers. Every room has its on shower. Also the free caipirinha hour is a blast. We really liked the super nice staff – though at times there where not enough people, for example there was no breakfast left anymore at 10 and no one to replace it. There is no identification and no cameras.

I really enjoyed my time here, with one pretty big exception. The people were great, staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Free caipirinhas every night was great. Atmosphere was relaxed and fun. Lots of common space to chill out and meet people. BUT there was zero hot water in the shower (not too bad considering how hot the weather was) and the metal bunks were so noisy you couldn't move without waking up the whole room which made for broken sleep at best. Still, I'd go back.

Barra guest Hostel is by far the best hostel I have stayed inn. The staff were so helpful and provided me with all thee information I needed for my stay and planned trips. The breakfast was amazing!!! with freshly made juices every morning :-). I also loved the atmosphere and mixture of people staying here. My only issues was it was a bit hot in the room due to my bed being far away from the AC. I would highly recommend staying at this hostel. The location is close to the beach and is very safe

Awesome hostel, great location that was easy to find. Once there the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about the local area, things going on and what to do. Carlos the local tour guide is a great guy always taking you out to see new places you might not otherwise go to. Met some great people there and had an excellent great time, wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone and everyone i meet!
