Beautifull hostel, excellent location, great staff and delicious breakfast!!!!

Hostel is very clean,staff is not that helpful but location is good.

I had a really fantastic time ay this Hostel. My plan was it to stay for 1 night and I stayed by the end for 5 night until my end of my travel. It was my first week traveling by myself after traveling with two other friends in the last 7 month. I was really lucky to end up at this hostel. Great stuff, really nice travelers and lots of good stuff to do in Barra. The rooms are quiet big, everybody has her own locker, its big enough to put your whole backpack inside. Cleaning women came everyday.

There is a great atmosphere at this hostel which is helped by the staff who are friendly and informative and the free Caipirinha. The hostel is also very clean with generous sized dorm rooms and ample space to securely store valuables.

The hostel is of very good quality comparing to hostels in Brazil, but in competition to good hostels in Peru or Colombia is average. Atmosphere is nice and chilled, but do not count on any help from the staff.

Had a great time in Salvador, what I really liked was that the owner arranges tours and that there are bar tours, ...which are really worth to go to meet locals and to feel save at night going to Pelorinho... THANKS for all the great experiences I had...

A great hostel. Very guest friendly and the facility is cozy and very clean. The rooms are big and have their own bathrooms. The beds are comfortable and the rooms have AC! I must say the breakfast was amazing, lot of fruits, pancakes and eggs. We also took a boat trip that the hostel arranged and it was worth the money. Amazing beaches and a good buffet. Every day the hostel arranged different things you could do in Salvador. I will come again! Thanx U for a great week.

I wouldnt go out of you way to stay at this place.. Only so-so to be honest. Staff incredibly moody. When it suits them they are nice but often barely answer questions. The outings run by the hostel owner eg Tues night party, boat trips etc are WAY over priced and something of a joke. All in all, it seemed to me the main concern of the owner was getting your money. Also, Barra isnt a great area. Worst beach ever.-- jam packed with people. Avoid if you can. Ciao

I actually booked this hostel because it was so great rated and it was said to have been the best hostel of Brazil in 2010. I really do not understand that. The staff was extremly unhelpful, they couldn t even tell us how we can get but tickets. The guy said that I should tell him when I find out. Furthermore one staff member came in at 3 o clock in the night (we had a private double room) to check if the wather was running, without knocking on the door. I wouldn t go back to Barra Guest house.

Superb Hostel. I have stayed at hundreds of hostels over the years and this is definately one of the best. It is a travellers hostel, warm, friendly homely. The owners/operators were very welcoming and helpful. The hostel in itself is something to savour, Salvador is a great place, but i would go back there just to stay again at Barra! A real Gem in a world of sterile and boring chain hostels. It was a pleasure to stay there, thank you for having me. I highly recommend Barra Guest House.

Really nice place to stay. Great location, near bus stops, bars, restaurants and a huge supermarket. Close to a very nice beach (Porto da Barra). Very friendly staff; but I wish they were more organized (reception desk). The rooms were cleaned once a day and breakfast was very good. Great air-conditioning system.

A fantastic hostel! Great character and lots of fun. Breakfast is excellent the rooms are spacious and cool and are always kept clean by the hard working staff. Russel the owner is always helpful and informative and tries his best to keep everyone that stays here happy. Cant recommend this hostel enough.

I had a great stay here, the staff are very helpful and friendly and the free caiprinihas are great and it helps to get everyone socialising. The only down side is the disorganisation, they never seem to know which beds are free and my airport transfer never turned up though it wasn't a big deal.

Very nice hostel, good ambient and staff people, location is near from the beach, and also good breakfast. I hardly recommend it !!!

I really enjoyed staying at Barra Guest Hostel I found it to be a well managed establishment, with an awesome feel about it. The other travelers that i was there with, also seemed to throughly enjoy it. The Guy in charge, Russell was F@#cking cool, he gave very good briefings to the guests that wanted some guidance, and he is very knowledgeable about Salvador and can arrange all you need for a nice stay whether it be tours or for where to just chill. I definitely suggest that YOU stay there.

We were excited about getting at this hostel which was voted number one in Brazil, and we were really disapponted and frustated about it. First, the woman who worked at the reception desk was not helpful at all, she could not speak any English, hopefully we could speak Portuguese.
