So far Barra Guest Hostel is one of my favourite hostels I´ve ever been too. Always a great atmosphere, great staff which is really helpful, friendly and fun!! Rooms and bathrooms are big and always clean! The hostel is really close to the beach!! One free Caipiriniha every night is a great service and brings all the people from the hostel together. The food at the hostel is delicious and has really fair prices. Looking forward of coming back. Saldudos from Germany!!! :-)

Hostel and rooms are spacious, very clean, Russell the owner is English and a very nice guy, extremely helpful, knows the area very well, helps you plan your trip, sights etc, Aussie receptionist Nick is a laugh and just as helpful. Have already recommended the hostel to others.

The stuff is very nice and helpfully, gives good advises and is always in good mood, the rooms are very good, big Bathrooms and hot and cold water. I felt like at home ath this place. Meet many travellers, one free Caipirinha everyday at 7pm. I feally enjoyed my stay!

This hostel is overrated. The staff are very pleasant but not very helpful and speak little to no English. The owner himself is English but was never around to help during our stay. We really could have done with some advice considering the area we were staying in. The free caipirinha's are a nice touch though there is no real bar of which to speak of. The rooms are ok and very spacious. However the shower had loose cables hanging from it which sparked and smoked while I was showering!

Fantastic hostel...the staff are great, very helpful and give loads of information about Salvador. Rooms are spacious and kept clean. The breakfast provided was the best of my entire trip and they even offer a hot option!! Good location, and only a 15 min bus ride to the Pelo. Would definitely recommend this hostel to everyone.

Not sure how this hostel was voted best in Brazil. I have definitely stayed in better. There's nothing especially wrong with it, its clean, secure, and the breakfasts are really good, but its lacking in any atmosphere. The social areas aren't at all conducive to mingling. Also, although the staff are nice and do try their best, they don't speak English, which makes life difficult for non-Portuguese speakers.

It was very clean, comfortable, and safe. The staff was friendly, and it was a very relaxing place. Although the staff was friendly, English was limited. Although it was nice, there wasn't anything

Rooms were pretty clean, we had dirty sheets to begin with but the maid was very quick to change them and very helpful. Dinners good value for money and breakfasts were brilliant. Staff could improve their attitude and be more forthcoming with tourist advice, there was a lack of staff members which was notable.

The room was very small, stained with an overwhelming smell of urine. Bath was clean but toilet broken so had to go into the wall to try and flush it, which was a hit or miss thing. shower just barely warm enough. Room on inside courtyard and air was broken, had to stuff towel and rug in the window to keep out bugs. Overall, hostel was grimy, everything feld dirty and old, smelly. Staff was all very nice as were the other guests. Their website says number 1 hostel in Brazil, don´t think so.
