The bathroom was quite dirty, with missing tiles and ants. The deck chairs in the pool area was not really up to scratch and not enough of them either.

There were ants all over the kitchen. The ac was broken so we had to have the windows open which probably didn\'t help with the ants. The staff was really rude when we asked for their help.

Clean hostel - bungalow style with fridge in the room. Kitchen and TV room close already at 9.00pm - too early!!! They offer breakfast 8.00 - 9.00am but you have to be there at 8.00am, otherwise there might be no toast and cereals left as they will not be filled up.

This hostel is not new. It was here 6 years ago, it has since been divided into different hostels and renamed. The best word I can use to describe it is disgusting! The rooms are crawling with ants everywhere and other bugs too and all taps leaked. There are lots of squashed bugs on the walls beside the beds. The bunks are incredibly noisy. When one person moves the whole dorm wakes up. I was in 3 dorms in total and the aircon was broken in 2 out of the 3 of them. Staff were in no way helpful.

Hey, I had a very good time at the Base Resort... The onliest thing that wasn´t that good is, that the key deposit is way too much. 10 Dollars should be enough! But keep going like u do. Ah, just remembered: at breakky.... it was like 8.15 and milk + cereals were gone. Would be good if there is someone all the time to fill things up ;) Cheers

cons: AC did not work, reception closes at 9pm, did not find it very clean pros: good location, 4 free drink vouchers next door, and that bar is fun

Checkin only after 2pm (Greyhound arreives at 7am). All people had to wait even the rooms are available and ready. At 2 pm 25 people try to checkin at once but the lady at receiption answered a lot of telephon calls. When a lot of people have waited for hours to checkin I think it is unpolite to answer calls during checkin process. Overall it took 45 minutes for checkin .. not acceptable.

I had a great stay at Base! Dorms are located in small bungalows that surround the pool so it feels more like a resort than a hostel. I stayed in a 4 bed sanctuary dorm with private ensuite and small kitchenette. Check in is at late (2pm) but there's a shower behind the common kitchen area to freshen up if you arrive on the morning bus. Free breakfast is a nice bonus but get there early if you want milk with your cereal!

I enjoyed my stay at the hostel and everyone was friendly and pleasent. If I had to be picky the beer in the bar was always served a bit flat steve

Arrive on the overnight greyhound bus & you will be made to wait until 14:00 for your room to be 'ready'. My room mates told me my room was ready 2 days before. Roomie asked 3 times 4 toilet paper as there was none, unfriendly staff embarrassed her in reception.Generally unfriendly, rude and bossy staff who speak to you more like schoolchildren than people. All in all Airlie is a nice place to visit the whitsunday islands, other than that its just another tourist spot where people try 2rip u off.

The hostel didn't have enough staff on to the handle the amount of travellers at the front desk. The room wasn't swept properly and there was cockroaches coming out from behind the mirror.

Really enjoyed our stay here. Some of the friendliest, happiest staff we have met in Australia so far. Our dorm was cool too, really clean and cosy. The air con works here too so that is always a plus! Thanks guys

Excellent hostel. I stayed in a female dorm en suite which was very spacious and comfortable . The best Base hostel I've stayed at. Close to all amenities and 10 minutes from the harbour and the bus station. Would recommend.

Loved this place! Staff were friendly and helpful. Absolutely stunning view from balcony which really helped the hangover. Air-conditioner dripped all day which was annoying/slippery but we got through it. Taps in the bathroom were filthy. Bar fridge in room was really awesome. Loved the place and will deffs be back.

This hostel is very comfortable to sleep in and well presented throughout. If it had allowed BYO I'd have been happier.

Free breakfast is only there for the first 2 people who get up. Cleanliness could also be better. Airconditioning was very old and made a lot of noise. Parking spot had to be paid as well.

The room and bathroom (private double) were great. The kitchen was ok, but not too clean. Location is great, right next to the lagoon and close to all shops/bars/restaurants. For one of our nights the hostel was overbooked so they transfert us to another hostel, which was not quite as good. When we compained about this, the lady was very annoyed but in the end they give us a free meal voucher, which partly made up for it.
