Little bit of a walk from the Greyhound terminal, but once you're there, you're close to everything; bars, shops, beach etc. Nice pool and bar. Helpful staff looked after my valuables for me while I headed out to Whitsundays. Perfectly good hostel stay.
Room: we're only 3 people in 6 bed dorm which was nice. But the staff didn't cleaned the room. The trashbin was totally full. Toilet and shower looked liked not cleaned since weeks Kitchen: only 2 fridges for hundreds of people. Bad equipment and you also have to pay a 5 Bug deposit each. Staff: unfriendly, unqualified
Good for an overall short stay, e.g one night to then go onto a Whitsundays tour, but was an overall boring hostel in my opinion. Not that much of an atmosphere with few social events going on. Rooms itself were fine, comfy beds and clean rooms. WiFi was outrageously expensive though.
Not a bad hostel at all, the rooms were very clean and the common areas were aswell. Lockers weren't in rooms but in common area, you have to pay for them though rather than use your own lock. All the staff are cool, helpful and really chilled out. The location is good as its on the main street but if you get the greyhound it's a trek to get to. Not the hostels fault, just annoying. I was in a room by myself for a night which as a solo traveller was quite annoying! Not a bad hostel though.
This was the biggest hostel I've ever stayed in. It felt more like a holiday park than a hostel. I hated the fact that you constantly had to rent all your cutlery and pans. One time I had to wait 10min before I could finally get one spoon. It's just ridiculous. The rooms were quite big though and I loved the down under bar. It's great for a few nights, but I got annoyed with the staff and the cutlery thing after a few days.
Great location, great staff. I think it's a bit overpriced for what it is. I stayed in the mixed dorm & the bathroom was dirty, the light didn't work & there was no real security for luggage
Rooms are a cool set up, and loads of space. Stayed 3 night's though and not cleaned or toilet roll replaced etc but didn't go and ask anyone to either. Kitchen was pretty small for the size of the place and shuts early.
Wifi is fucken up for 4$ per day, kitchen opens noon, so u cannot have breakfast, kitchen to small for such a huge hostel - no social life can raise, rooms are old fashioned and really low, bathrooms aren't clean and moldy. Staff at the reception isn't really helpful. 6$ for luggage storing during ur sailing trip is a no-go - pinch your money where they can... A bit poor!

Stayed in a 6 bed bathroom was grotty, and shower and toilet were behind the same door which meant you could not go to the toilet whilst someone was showering. Switched to an 8 bed at Nomads the following night. Room was cheaper. Bathroom was cleaner. Had to showers, which meant it was 4 people to each shower as suppose to 6. Toilet and showers were separate. Go 8 bed, not 6.
Cute mini apartments, always long queues to speak to staff or check in, kitchen not stocked with cooing stuff- you have to hire plates cutlery pots etc, small social area
Really good hostel. Good location to shops and lagoon, but quite far from Greyhound stop. Was so nice to have a pool. The staff were really helpful and friendly. Only downside was the bathroom in my room was gross. I saw others with nicer ones though.
Leider hatte ich etwas Pech und überall (Bad und Zimmer) war Schimmel an den Wänden. Dazu sah es so aus, als wäre die letzte Reinigung auch schon ein paar Wochen her gewesen. Würde hier also leider nicht nochmal buchen.
Typical BASE hostel. Good location. Not a great atmosphere -- it's just too big to really meet anyone. Rooms are hot. They have aircon but it is only turned on by staff in the middle of the night. Staff are meh. Always huge lines in reception -- you think they'd find a way to fix this as it is a daily occurrence.
Great. Big rooms with good air con. Very clean. Liked the big complex with pools but in the middle of airlie.
Had a terrible 2 nights stay here. The bathroom was not clean. The first night we were kept awake by the people upstairs until 4.30am and then the second night we were kept awake all night. They were asked to leave but were still making noise around the pool at 7.30am when I left.
Overall a good hostel. Excellent location on the main strip. The check in staff are helpful but when i checked into my room the shower and toilet had obviously not been cleaned from the previous lot as there were used plasters and toilet paper on the floor (i was the first to check in and all other beds free hence must not have been cleaned). Other than this the atmosphere is good and the bar next door does good deals and a fun night out. No free wifi and have to pay for luggage storage though
Great hostel! Been in three different dorms and all were really good. Great location as well.
Had a great stay here! Jamie (sorry I know that's not the correct spelling) at the travel desk was amazing. Stayed an hour later after work to help us book our trips. Then sorted us out free showers etc for the day we checked out. He made our stay!! So thank you!! Only issue is Base charge you for everything! Wifi, that's poor! Cutlery, plates etc. Money grabbers!
Nomads and Base are now the same place, joined forces to be one massive hostel!
