Base Airlie what a beautiful hostel smack bang in the middle of paradise. Who would have know a little treasure here in the beautiful Whitsundays. Hostel was perfect for a solo traveller rooms where of high standard clean and tidy. Great swimming pool and BBQ area if you wanted to get away from it all in the lovely tropical gardens. Big thanks to the Tour desk who helped booked my East coats trip too.

Great Value for money for what you get, large room for 4 people with own ensuite & fridge. Staff were really friendly & helpful although it was a little busy. Theres some nice deck chairs around the large pool to just chill and read a book or the bar is open for lunch to get a cheap meal that comes with a pint. One of the nicest places i've stayed at in Oz.

Funny, friendly staff & rooms are set back from the bar so nice and quiet. Also huge swimming pool and sun louges. The best place I have stayed on the east coast so far.

Staff was not very attentive and the kitchen was horrible. Not enough cutlery and only a single fridge which was jam-packed all the time. Rooms are average but with own bathroom. There´s now supermarked around except for a very small, expensive one. If you want to go tho Woolworths, you have to catch the bus (expensive). There´s no free Internet but you can go to Backpackers World Travel which is just across the street and use their Wi-Fi

The Base Airlie Beach Resort is a really great place to stay. The rooms are big and clean, the kitchen is clean too and the location is really great. Unfortunately the kitchen is not well equiped with cuterly and dishes.

We stayed only one night but it was a very nice place, a little more expensive than other hostels but also nicer. Well organized and nice facilities! Little bungalow houses, nice outside pool (though the airlie beach lagoon is nicer), clean kitchen! And vouchers for free drinks in next door bar.

The staff is barely polite and don't do anything to make you feel welcome. They seem to always be in a hurry, and not at all happy to see you, but would rather talk to the other people that works there. They expect dishes to be dry, but don't leave out enough dish towels. No coffee/tea. No free shelves. Good price on internett, but often slow connection. Staff don't ever follow you into the luggage room, but leave you to take whatever. Expect more for 6 dollars. No lockers in rooms.

Female staff were very rude towards female guests. Male staff were flirts and just wanted a bit of totty. Rooms were average but full of ants. Kitchen area was the most disgusting thing I've seen. Kitchen ware was filthy, bins weren't changed! Stale food on the floor.

Charging $6 for a left luggage room is unacceptable. It was not secure. There are 24 hour secure lockers in two locations across the street but I shouldn't have to cross the road to secure my gear. There should be lockers in the rooms. I don't know if this is the done thing in other hostels. Even if it is, it is unacceptable. I'd pay extra for in room lockers. Toilet and shower dirty, too. Otherwise on balance I would probably stay again, good aircon and location.

Good hostel with nice resort style rooms, ensuite bathrooms and a small little pool. Great location near the lagoon for relaxing and marina for sailing. Good bar onsite with decent prices and meal deals. Better deals for tours can usually be found by going to the independent travel companies rather than booking with Base.
