We had booked to stay in a four bedroom dorm, and instead were put into a 6 bedroom dorm... As we had paid for what we booked in, it was a let down that the service promised was not actually provided. The room we stayed in had no window, and the girls showers were broken. We did have a shower in our room, however considering I was stuck with five massive guys, and the lock was broken.... it was not ideal.

Very impersonal. i toke a 8 bed dorm where 5 other girls were living for more than a month, so the room was dirty. 4 NZD for one day internet. only 2 bathrooms outside the room for the whole floor, where there are more than 20 rooms. i didnt have a good time to be honest. staff is very unhelpfull

Good hostel in excellent location. Staff were friendly and helpful. The bar and club downstairs were pretty lively and it was easyish to meet people, it was also cheap for auckland. A lot of people seem to live there which means there is a crowd of people who know each other which can be daunting for a solo traveller there for a few days. I managed to meet a few people for a drink though, so it cant be that much of a problem. i'd reccomend.

Our stay at Base Auckland was awful. When the staff could not find our reference number, they told us to have a seat. We then sat there for over forty-five minutes while they helped everyone else in line, including new customers walking in as well. Once we did get the room, there was nice security and it was similar to a hotel. During our two-day stay, the towels in the toilet were never replaced after empty (over 24 hours), and the toilet paper ran out as well. Have a good stay SOMEWHERE ELSE.

This Hostel has nothing included but a bed anda a shower, You pay there to stay but if you want WIFI you have to pay extra, if you want to use a locker, you have to pay extra ! These are minimun things that should be included in the price as in almost every hostel.

Was a great first stop. Met lots of people and there was lockers under the beds so I always felt that my stuff was safe! Always some night out going on so if you're travelling alone I highly recommend it here! I would go again.

Bedrooms were very nice although they have no windows. Bathrooms were in a poor condition. Staff at the reception should tell people who ask for the Airbus early in the Morning that the Domnestic Terminal at Auckland Airport is not opened before 4:45 a.m.

the first time we step into the hotl uts fine. once we got into our room, its really depressing. the floor mat is relly dirty n tear here n there, n shockly, so many flus or mosquitoes welcomed us.. likeso many of them flying here n there till we need to buy aerosol to spray n leave our room n came back. staffs are good,,facilities not bad but toilet worst than my previous 70's hostel. we need to press to shower. never oress, no water. how to press and shower at the same time?

Massive hostel, so not that easy to meet people. The room was really small and the bathroom could be cleaner. The comon areas are big and there are a lot of sofas and places to chill.

Was a good hostel for the night. Staff were unhelpful asking where to get the bus from they kept telling us to ask someone else... Who would send us to someone else. In the end we had to go online to find out. I got bites from the bed. But other than that good stay. Great location. Just get better staff.

The set up is good, the staff are good, but keeping up standards for the basics seems to be a challenge: not enough crockery; dirty sheets; double bookings on beds; broken bed; filthy squishy carpet; only 2 showers working on the 7th floor, with nearly 100 people sleeping there. Maybe this hostel is just too big.
