Biggest complaint - NOT ENOUGH STAFF AT THE FRONT DESK. This is a very large hostel and at any given time there were maybe 3 people at the desk, tops. I had to stand in line for 20 minutes just to get a replacement key for my room and 15 minutes to get a packet of laundry soap. They need more front desk staff. All the staff were nice though.

Bit like a hotel but staff were very friendly and knowledgable about the Auckland area.

Great location, fairly basic and a little bit run down but worth it for the price. My one issue was security - there were signs all along my floor advising us to watch out for a known theiving problem, so I entrusted my bags to the (paid) luggage room when I left... Was not impressed to find the door wide open and no one watching it when I came to get it back. Nothing was stolen but I think that's a huge oversight on Base's part!

It is a very big hostel and less staff to manage all the people checking in. But all the facilities are top and the location is good as well.

Just a typical base, I only didnt enjoy the hostel as it's one of those huge ones and has rooms like mine which was an old storage room, with no window and no space. Stay at Nomads.
