A very nice place to stay, only issue really was the noise at night but we got to sleep ok so all was fine!

MY room was basic as expected,but the window would not close at all, the bathrooms where dirty. The carpets had holes in them, everywhere, the lift didn't work..I was four flights up. No free wi fi which I had at another hostel. Maybe I was too old for the place.

I would not stay here again!

Do not go to base on edward street. The staff are horrid , the rooms and showers are so unclean and it is just an unpleaseant place to stay and live

BED BUGS!!! need i say more? do not stay here there are plenty of other hostels nearby, i got bed bugs, they didnt care, were really rude about it had to sleep in the tv room that night and they wouldnt even refund me that one night out of 5 ...very loud the whole time,window in my room smashed and just been permanently covered with newspaper so really cold at night, dirty, people angry yelling and smashing things, YUK

Lacks character but has a great location. Room was unclean and bathrooms were about the same. Quite noisy too. Only stayed a night but thought Base was overpriced for what it was.

One of the worst and oldest and dirtiest hostels in brisbane. There were non guests partying on the rooftop.

I didnt feel that the staff were able to help me. You felt like you were a pain in the ass, sometimes. They were smiling, but it felt unreal. I didnt liked when you were putting in your bags in the luggage room. Its a great idea! But, it felt like it was to easy for anyone to get in there. The kitchen was really dirty. It was disgusting to eat in there. And it was really hard to cook the food. You couldnt find enough of plates, forks, u know it. The bar was great! The live music even better!

good roof top terrace, good cheap food and drinks in the bar below, kitchen cleaners can't keep up with slobby backpackers most of the time. check out in the morning can take up to half hour with the rush. job finding service excellent, most of the staff are awesome,

Clean and great location

This is an old building which still has a lot of character. Security is very good as swipe cards are needed for most places. However, the hostel is run down and toilets/showers are covered in graffiti (some from 2007!) Some hallway walls are half painted and tiles are missing. The hostel needs major investment and a good clean.

The staff is very friendly and helpfull. Check in is quick and easy. Location couldn't be more perfect. Right across the central station and only 5 minutes walk from brissie's greatest clubs,shops, pubs, bars... Also super clean bathrooms,which is often a problem in other hostels.

toooooo noisy

Probably the worst hostel of our Australia trip... it was really dirty, even for a budget hostel. The club underneath was pretty good though.

Too Big, too loud, too drunken people, firealarm every night, no sleep, no possibillity to open the windows

Old building, squiky floors and painting falling off the walls. Very noisy especially at night, (staff keeps on making loud announcements on the speakers at unreasonable times to get you to go spend your money at their bar) and stinking corridors:((( The washing machines and dryers take your money but don't work and you get no refund! Kitchen poorly equiped despite what the ad says (no oven for example!) And a lot more to say... The only good thing is the location.

This place is the worst I have ever been!! The customers were quite noisy!! And nobody cares! Even the cops came, he still had no idea what to do.

its soooo noisy, if you want to sleep then go somewhere else. The rooms and bathrooms on floor 1 are terrible. If you are 18 and want to party all night long then i guess you might have fun but I will never go back to base central. The female sanctuary is a joke, in one of the rooms there wasn't even a mirror!

Stairs leading to bar had same potato crisps spilt on it for 2 days. Mirror needed in private room, especially when you have to share a bathroom Mesh screen outside windows advisable to keep out insects and still let air in. Staff very helpful and friendly. Fun, friendly atmosphere in bar. Good deals in drinks and food.
