Very dirty, with bugs in some areas. Old fascilites, smelly carpets... They turn aircon off conveniently at night so you swet like crazy... Very poor. One Italian stuff member very nice, others... Eficient, but far from nice... Excelent location, and thats about it...

I stayed only few hours, but I appreciated the girls I slept with

Some showers don't even work, also very old and damaged. Smelly carpets and cockroach bugs seen in the hallways. Thats why no food is allowed in rooms. There is an opening above door for venting... so noise of people walking on the hallways resonates in your room like they'd be walking on your head. AirCon set to warm which is understandable for a hostel, but then it shuts off in the middle of the nights so you sweat like crazy... Stuff: despite one friendly Italian... very basic and cold.

Only stayed here one night but it was pretty good. Bar downstairs did cheap drinks and was a nice place to relax. One downside is that the toilets were quite a long walk from the room and in short supply for the number of beds on the floor.

Good central location, but just another old, load, worn out, overpriced hostel, in need of love and respect, it could be an absolutely amazing place.

I stayed in a private room, which are located on the 5th floor. The window was facing the a/c outlet of the building resulting in a constant noise comparable to those of jet engines in an aeroplane. The window did not close properly, which was part of the noise problem. Fix the window and/or make those rooms even cheaper. Staff didn't tell me that the 5th floor wasn't accessible by elevator nor where the bath facilities where on that floor. A hassle. More info doesn't cost much, right?

Air con was busted. Staff couldn't help because it's a central system, they said they'd bring a second fan for our 4 bed room (but didn't). The windows in the room were cruelly either sealed shut or had their cord cut. If you managed to prop up a window, crushing your luggage in the process, you would then find a sheet of thick perspex shutting off any chance at fresh air coming into the room. After a night in that hotbox it was easy to see why the room had such a horrendous smell.

Loved everything about it. Great staff, perfect location.

Great location but extremely small and basic single rooms and bathrooms pretty dated and grubby.

Nice and clean hostel, good location, but nothing special.

Dents in wall; knob missing from fan; loud vent outside open window meant sleep near impossible and couldn't shut the window to block it out. Inside appearance was of being unclean; entry to Base needs to be more easily accessible. Walls not the shiny painted walls as depicted in website; nor any pretty cushions on bed - only 1 flat pillow, not 2 as in website picture. Never again.

Hostel that charge for wifi need to die. Hostels that charge for wifi that doesn't properly work need to die twice.

I stayed here (fortunately) only 2 nights. It's the worst hostel I've been to in Australia yet. It's a really old building and it just looks shabby. All rooms have an open window over the door so you can hear everything what's going on outside. The Down Under Bar is right below so the loud music/bass kept me awake all night. Only 2 power plugs for 4 people. A cockroach chased me in the kitchen. Would not recommend this place if you're looking for some sleep... It's a party hostel!

If never want to sleep is the perfect hostel. Room you can hear the music from the club, slaps windows with the vibrations of the music club. There are parties every night so impossible to sleep. staff is not pleasant. When I asked to change rooms, the receptionist was lost and did'nt find me other room. The cleanliness left to be desired in the bathrooms. The kitchen is dirty, I board not even dared to cook. a good thing it is the location of the hostel. The vacuum cleaner is a past 8 o'clock

I did not like the stay, though cleaners were about and they had an hour and half to clean kitchen, it felt dirty. The theft of food is out of control, the atmosphere is terrible, the price of Internet for 24hrs is good, and the gym pass is excellent. However I'm currently at base uptown and whilst it's slightly out, the atmosphere is much better as is the cleanliness and atmosphere. Pity about central

Two things are ok with this hostel: the location (Brisbane CBD) and the staff (even if not everyone). All the rest is: 6 cooking spots for hundreds of guests, loud music till 5 in the morning coming from the party bar downstair, stupid strict rules, stealing (i've lost tons of food and clothes, a guy in the room next to mine had his locker forced and lost his laptop and reflex camera), wi-fi (which doesn't work) at 4$ a day, dirty facilities.
