Was so disappointed with Base - one of the shabbiest hostels I have ever stayed in. It was dark and dingy, the showers hardly worked - you got a trickle and the temperature changed every twenty seconds or so from scalding to freezing. There were decorative gaps in the walls above the doors which meant you heard everything in the hallway - they were doing work on the hostel though which can only make it better. Didn't see any staff except for when checking in/out. Really good size lockers though.

This hostel is literally across from Brisbane Central train station, which made it an ideal place to stay for one night! I was in a room that held 6 people and I have no complaints. The bathrooms were in good condition, the toilets were fine and for how many people that were in this hostel, it was very quiet! This is a very big hostel, so if you are into meeting a variety of people, I would recommend staying here!

The girls in my room were very loud, although they worked in Brisbane and were not partying - very unpleasant people.

I arrived after 11pm Having recently dislocated my shoulder Sleeping on the top bunk was not possible The night staff was kind enough to help me find a dorm with a bottom bunk available and ended up giving my a 3 bed room for the same price as i originally booked.

Fellow travellers in the place were great, but the staff left much to be desired - there was very little information provided about the place, but that was - I discovered - because there really wasn't much there; The roof top area was nice but you were chucked off it at 10. The staff didn't really bother unless you were behind on money or they were chucking you off the roof. The kitchen would make Genghis Khan's stomach turn. I wouldn't stay here longer than 3 or 4 nights without a Tetanus shot

Very economical and well located. My only gripe was that the rooms up top were very hot - not helped by having the ceiling fans on the winter settings.

We had a nice stay there. A bit too much noise and partying during the night though. Other than that we enjoyed our stay-

Hostel was generally a bit tatty and kitchen facilities were the worst on my trip - the noise from the nightclub went on until 2:00 am and that was from 3 floors up. Bathroom facilities were a bit limited for the number of guests. The building had a lot of character and superb location - and reception staff were friendly and helpful. The room was fine for a hostel with secure lockers if you had your own padlock.

This was the worst hostel that we came across with during our three week stay in Australia. If it wouldn't be cause we needed to take the train earlie next morning we would never stay there again.

MY room was basic as expected, but the window would not close at all, the bathrooms where dirty. The carpets had holes in them, everywhere, the lift didn't work..I was four flights up. No free wi fi which I had at another hostel. Maybe I was too old for the place.
