Base Brisbane - Embassy Reviews

The staff was helpful from the very beginning of the stay. It was right next to a supermarket and Queen's market was right there, so you can eat cheaply and still be in the city center. Also next to lots of bus routes which takes you to outer attractions like the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. They offer good meal/drink deals in their bar which is only a few blocks away. Has a huge move theater but good luck getting there at a time when someone else hasn't put in their own choice.

Liked the cinema-room. Big kitchen, enough fridges but only 6 places where to cock with gas. Rooms are tiny.

I just stayed there from 3 in the night till 9 in the morning. the guy from the stuff was really nice and gave me a room at that time.

the handle of the door was coming off, (the pin was missing) i felt this was a fire hazard. Informed the staff member who said she'd try get it sorted but as was a sunday unlikley would get done til monday morning. We checked out on tuesday and no one had come fix the handle. The hostel has nice cinema room and kitchen. But if you like you're food dont' leave it in the kitchen as everyone had complaints of food and in some cases full food bags had disappeared. dorm beds were lovely and comfy.

The room is a little bit small , especially for double and twins roos, the kitchen is not very clean and quite hot fon cooking in summer time

The room to store your luggage was filthy as was the kitchen. My food was stolen from the fridge twice and when I spoke to reception about it they said 'Oh yeah that seems to have been happening alot'

Hostel is right in the centre of Brisbane and has great security. The day staff were friendly and helpful and showers were generally clean. I had to checkout at 6am and had to walk to another hostel to do this, even though the reception was staffed (with an unfriendly night 'manager') - if you don't understand grunts don't waste your time with him!

Staff were a bit matter of fact. But overall stay was very good. Great location and clean rooms.

Stayed in Base Embassy for 3 nights in early October 2011, was in an excellent location right in the heart of the CBD with supermarkets and bars, restaurants etc a stones throw from the hostel. The rooms were clean and tidy, as was the bathrooms and toilets. A couple of downsides: Bunkbeds are too close together meaning you can't sit up on the bottom bunks; and the kitchen was in a dire state with few utensils and working hobs. Other than that certainly one of the better hostels around.

The hostel offers insufficient kitchen utensil for resident to use. Only one knife is available in the kitchen and no chopping board offered. Besides, the kitchen should be clean several times a day regularly instead of once a day since too many people use it. However, the worst thing is the noise from the night club down stairs, contineous hit from the low-base music made me crazy, played from 9pm until next early morning. If you are not a party guy, this is not the place for you.
