The rooms are okay. The thing that annoyed me the most, was the disgusting kitchen. A bit too small and always so dirty and unclean. I only stayed there 2 nights before going home, but if you are looking for some social live, this hostel didn't seem as the place to go.

Staff were very friendly but overall not the best Base i have stayed at. Air con in room was noisy when it worked although man on desk did say he would look into it! Location is excellent for CBD but i found a lot of the people staying there were working in Brisbane and could be a little self involved/not keen to include anyone just staying for a couple of nights. Very quiet hostel but if you're looking for a party and traveling alone you may stuggle to get included!

The staff are very helpful and friendly. The only downside for me was that some of the other backpackers were not very outgoing and tended to keep themselves to themselves, which I hear is odd for a hostel.

Despite my confirmed booking in a mixed dorm, I was denied access to this room on arrival because of my age(52). Initially I was told the hostel was for serious backpackers only. Having shown my interstate drivers licence and backpack, I was then told that some females might feel confronted if I were in the dorm. A private room was available to me at $100 per night if I chose to upgrade, which I didn\'t, on principle. Base Bne is poor value by any standards.

The staff was helpful from the very beginning of the stay. It was right next to a supermarket and Queen's market was right there, so you can eat cheaply and still be in the city center. Also next to lots of bus routes which takes you to outer attractions like the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. They offer good meal/drink deals in their bar which is only a few blocks away. Has a huge move theater but good luck getting there at a time when someone else hasn't put in their own choice.

Liked the cinema-room. Big kitchen, enough fridges but only 6 places where to cock with gas. Rooms are tiny.

the handle of the door was coming off, (the pin was missing) i felt this was a fire hazard. Informed the staff member who said she'd try get it sorted but as was a sunday unlikley would get done til monday morning. We checked out on tuesday and no one had come fix the handle. The hostel has nice cinema room and kitchen. But if you like you're food dont' leave it in the kitchen as everyone had complaints of food and in some cases full food bags had disappeared. dorm beds were lovely and comfy.
