Campsite was quiet and friendly, bar was pretty loud until about 12.30am but otherwise, an excellent atmosphere and great views right by the beach :)

Nothing bad to say about this place, except possibly that the music is a bit loud, which is annoying when you have to get up early in the morning.

I bought what I thought was a shared bed, but what Hostelworld did not tell me was that it was a tent site and I had to bring my own tent. I was really disappointed that hostelworld did not give enough information so that I knew it was a tent. The Hostel itself was pretty rundown and in bad condition but the staff was really nice. Overall it was not worth the money and there are much cheaper and much better places to stay.

This hostel is more like a campsite. In need of total refurbishment and with the hundreds of people who stay there every week they could certainly afford it ! Bathrooms and dorms are very grubby. Location is probably as good as any other on the island. The dinners were very good value. If you don't like loud music and tacky games every night , this won't be a good choice of hostel for you!

Fantastic location and great party atmosphere in the bar. The kitchen facilities were well below average, nowhere near enough crockery, cutlery. The kitchen was very dirty and doesn't appear to be cleaned daily by base staff. It was dissapointing to see a review nearly a year old and they complained about the same things and nothing appears to be addressed. Also maintenance of fridges and washing machines needs attention as they were broken and appears management are not bothered about fixing

don't be miserable and dictatorial at reception at check in. loosen up with the rigidity of the kitchen menu, people would love just a bacon sandwich or a bowl of chips. charge less at the kitchen, $8 for a base brekky was astronomical. sort out the camp kitchen, it's disgusting. sort out the toilets & showers, equally disgusting. fix the air cons. but on a positive, keep employing such friendly staff! (like Albie!)

Good overall standard. One thumb too many in bar/kitchen service, but very friendly and helpfull. I loved the veiw from our cabin! This place is LOUD; we chose Base for this reason and got what we bargained for. Excellent place for young backpackers who look to get to know people. Walking distance to supermarket and public BBQ area!
