Our private room was nice and clean, perfect location at the corner of the hostel, great view and we really enjoyed our stay! The bath is a bonus!!!!!!!!!!! If the bath room had a window to look at the view while having a bath, that would be a dream hostel really! hahahahah But seriously, we really enjoyed our stay! We were only there for the weekend so didn't spend that much time in the hostel, but sure we will be staying there again and highly recommend it everyone!

The kitchen was completely filthy no one did any dishes, maybe put in a camera and say you will take away key deposits like other hostels do to make people clean up after themselves. bathrooms weren't cleaned too well either :/ good they had a free breakfast but it was only for some guests, not sure why...wifi was so expensive as well.

By far the noisiest hostel we have stayed at, don't stay here if you want in disturbed sleep.

Excellent service, staff was extremely helpful! The rooms were very spacious and clean. The awesome bar just downstairs is an additional plus! Would definitely stay here again!!

Don't make the mistake of staying here like I did if you want any sleep at all. There are people running up and down the corridors screaming and shouting all night long. We even had people banging on our dorm door very loudly at 4am looking to borrow a phone charger!!!!! The hostel is in a great location but it seems to be party central and no one and I mean no one (even those who want to) gets any sleep at all not good for those of us who want to do adrenaline activities .

ok -- nice location, accommodating staff, good facilities. problem encountered, there's a bar downstairs with loud sounds til wee hours of the morning so could hear from my room at past midnight. also, some drunk traveler kept banging on our dorm room at 4am just to borrow an iphone charger. other than that, everything else is good.

The rooms are very dingy, the staff hardly even cleaned the rooms. The saying you pay for what you get for does not apply for this hostel and I'm not that fussy. The cleanliness in general was just not good to be honest and also there was not a lot of kitchen utensils for the size of the hostel.

The location is really good (mainly 'cause QT is very small...) but there are a couple of things that don't really work... The TV room and the kitchen are small compared to the amount of people that lives in Base and the "staff quality" depends on who you are talking to... Some of the girls are really nice and helpful, while other guys are... uhm... let's say it feels like they don't really like their job... My advice : Spend there a couple of nights while looking for a smaller hostel ;)

4 of us stayed in 2 private rooms. Both rooms had no windows, the only ventilation was a fan.We were able to upgrade to a lovely room which I would give 'Excellent' but our friends couldn't,it wasl like a prison cell. Jimmy on front desk. was fab,so helpful and friendly as were all the staff.

Good hostel for party minded people. The room is clean, pity there is no sunlight in the room and there is noise ( drunk people yelling) the whole night. Because of the noise we changed to another hostel after one night. Staff is friendly.

My first time staying in a hostel. Staff was excellent! They were very helpful when I wanted to book a trip to Milford Sound, and called several different companies on my behalf. First room that I was in was incredibly clean, second was still more than acceptable. Location is great. It's a pretty loud area, but you should honestly know that going in. Nothing some earplugs can't fix.

Great location and all the things you expect from a hostel but rooms are far too cramped and beds are very squeaky

We booked a regular double room but ended up with the (I think) handicapped one, so free ensuite bathroom no charge! The staff here was very helpful, and the facilities took care of everything that we wanted. Also, cheap drinks at the bar next store with a room key!

The location is right in the center of town and either perfect or the worst choice ever. It is just a really noisy location - facing directly at Fergburger, there is 24 hour noise. It is a great spot if you want three days to get drunk, the worst imaginable if you want to go mountain biking / be active, because you will get ZERO sleep.

I was glad to only stay here one night. The dorm we were in looked like a bunch of frat boys had moved in. Clothes and things just everywhere. One guy who had been there for a while commented on the 'smell' and how he was getting used to it. However, they did provide a decent free breakfast.

No soap in the bathrooms. Even after inquiry with the staff, the staff mentioned that it was a management decision not to refill soup in the bathrooms bc it was too costly. Washrooms were always dirty and needed a sweep daily. Several of the reception staff were straight up rude. The rooms were dingy, and the common tv room was pretty nasty. Not worth your money.

The dorm rooms were too dark and the bunks too close together so couldn't sit up on the bed. The kitchen was poorly ventilated and over crowded most of the time.
