Base St Kilda Reviews

This was by far the best hostel I have ever stayed at! The staff were amazing and everyone is very friendly which is great if your a lone traveller. Lots of activities on site and just a stone throw from great eats and bars. The beach was also exceptional! Look forward to my next visit (minus the black bin liner) ;)

I really enjoyed my stay at Base. I've been travelling al;l over the world and this is one of the best hostels I've ever stayed in. The staff are fantastic, always ready to help you out with anything. It's clean, efficiently run and FUN!! Massive party! Big thanks to Georgia on reception she';s amazing. Boozy bingo on a Monday is a must see...

I had the most fun at Base. It is a great Hostel (maybe the greatest in all Ozzie?) with fun things happeining all the time. Staff are very friendly all the time, always helpful. I am meeting lots of new people there all the time, and always a crazy party! Be careful of boozy bingo!!! Thank you Aiden for letting me poor water at the wet tshirt comp ;)

Had such a rad time!!

The freebies and daily activities have been good. I did not like the dirty kitchen, strangers in the hostel room ( security?) And that everything took place at the bar, they tried hard to get you in there every day. Would have prefered some specials or discounts around St. Kilda.. Bedrooms and ensuites.nice and clean. Party hostel

Awesome location. Very clean hostel. Great staff, very friendly. Hostel bar has a fun and busy atmosphere and run themed nights and drink offers. Perfect for backpackers to come as a group or alone. Lots to get involved with and fun to be had! Thanks Base, St Kilda! :)

Both the day and the night staff are always super friendly! Every night there's something new and different to do!! Monday night bingo is definitely a night you don't want to miss out on!!

best hostel in melbourne, base is always good. the staff are fun and helpful, the bar is fun every night with cheap drinks. the bathrooms are ensuits so theyre clean and modern too. a very fun, modern hostel for a backpacker who wants to have fun in melbourne

If you like to meet new people and have a good time while travelling base is the place to stay, there is always something going on, and the and the staff is very friendly and very willing to help you whatever is it you want to do

Without a clue Not knowing what to do All alone I walked into Base Then sudden overwhelmed with such grace Will and Ollie, there they were Two handsome guys, that's for sure! Now I know without a doubt Till everyone I'll shout: "You wanna stay at Base, 'cause it is THE place!" Will and Ollie you've made my days In many different ways Hope to see you both again Just don't know when In my mind you'll always be Hope you too remember me!

Great hostel for partying- helpful and friendly staff, but a bit far from the city if you want to escape the backpacker/ St Kilda bubble. But that reflects my own locational preference, rather than the hostel, which was great! Definitely recommend.

A nice place to stay at Sta Kilda.

This hostel was just OK, but not the best I've stayed in. The girly theme of the Sanctuary female only rooms was quite nice, having a free hairdryer and free magazines, though it was a shame staff forgot to give me my free towel. I thought my room was quite dirty, and although I saw cleaners come in everyday, they didn't clean the room properly as there were lots of dirty corners and places they missed. I didn't use a locker because it was so full of dirt and rubbish! Staff were nice though.

Modern, hip, clean and very adequate facility. Guests PARTY HARD and the music bumps well into the night--beware.

Can be really loud in the Evening... Its a Party Hostel...so be prepared to use your earplugs. These guys get really drunken!

Stereotypical BASE but def one of the nicer ones. Great location in St. Kilda itself. Short-ish tram ride into the City but easy to do. Great atmosphere. Got lucky with my timing at St Kilda festival.
