Very dirty hostel. I checked in and found all the available beds are dirty. I asked the reception staff to move me to another room because the beds look like have never been cleaned for ages. The staff immediately gave me the key of another room. The thing is the beds in other rooms are equally dirty so i have no choice but using my sleeping bag. However the location is perfect, opposite the train station.should make use of discounted tickets to the sydney tower and other attractions at reception

I really liked this hostel, I had booked a six bed mixed dorm with en suite. I was in one of the renovated rooms and it was fantastic, if it wasnt for bunk beds you'd have thought it was a hotel room. Brand. We shower and toilet in separate little rooms within our "dorm". It's right around the corner from darling harbour which was fantastic location. The storage lockers for luggage are great as they are computer operated and require a pass code to re open but just a little pricey for those

I was staying with my daughter and we stayed in a private room. I would have preferred to have had the option of a private room without ensuite and to therefore share bathroom facilities. This would have reduced costs for us. We had previously booked for 4 days at the meriton but i decided that in order to reduce the cost of accomodation I cancelled 2 days at the meriton and booked in for the other 2 days at the base. As it turned out the costs didnt alter by that much

First/second floors incredibly noisy, some of third floor similar. Staff very mixed - some helpful and friendly, others the complete opposite - seeming uninterested and as if guests were a burden. Better than a lot of hostels in terms of cleanliness - that's not to say it was great - bedbugs were rife and many of the sheets weren't clean.

I enjoyed my stay at base Sydney, The hostel vibe overall was good and staff were friendly :)) I also think staff should be more knowledgeable on the city and events which are taking place on the sociable calendar.

Location was great. It was a shame that there wasn't wifi and we had to pay for it. Was also a shame that our room was directly above a night club, so it was extremely noisy on the two nights we stayed. Was also a shame that we were bitten my mites

Myself and 3 other people got really bad bed ifs while staying in hostel, when the cleaner was in changin the sheets on the beds I watched her carefully and noticed that the duvet on the bed the cover of it wasn't changed when a new person arrives, therefore I asked her why and she said they get changed once a week if lucky !!!! Base is not the cheapest hostel to stay in and when I addressed this with reception they either didn't want to listen or were extremely rude to me about it.

Yeah it was good on the hole. Apart from the fact they're always moving people around the make room for new arivels. if you where there for a few weeks it could get a bit annoying not being able to settle. Net yeah genuarly a good hostel for what your paying

It was alright. Stayed with a few people from England. Staff was helpful but it isn't quite a lively hostel. Not that suitable for solo travellers. However the location is very convenient.

Aside from the booming of the nightclub beneath us, it was a very pleasant 3 night stay!

I was in room 113. 6 bed dorm ensuite. The bathroom was less clean than the public female bathroom, so no use taking ensuite. I met some great people, if you book some Day tour at X base you can get some discount (which is great). Been asked to leave my room twice within 2 nights due to firemen intervention (but no fire). The room was very clean with airconditionning. my only issue was the reception staff was not that nice & the room was on top of scary canary bar (very noisy at night)

Very incompetent staff, I honestly don't know how the hostel manages to operate. No one can explain to me why when the staff say it is full you can book beds on Hostel World and why not directly with the Hostel which also means you have to pay the 10% commission to Hostel World every time you book. No body can also explain to me why when I book for 5 nights, I have to move rooms everyday which means checking out and leaving the hostel at 10am and returning at 2pm. Dirty bathroom/toilet also

When we arrived the girl who checked us in was extremely rude and very in informative. Not a great first impression. Room was a good size and good to have scary canary next door. However the staff in there werent great either-the bar was very busy and staff just stood chatting amongst themselves with massive queues waiting to be served. Only stayed 3 nights the only decent thing about it was location.

I have been booking accommodation through Hostelworld for years now and I always reccommend you to friends. This stay however was unlike the rest and caused me and my friend a great deal of stress. We flew to Sydney on the Friday and arrived around 7-8pm. The trip was in aid of my friends birthday so we had to rush straight out for a meal. Upon check in we were advised that they did not have a booking for me and my friend, even though I had a copy of the confirmation printed out. The guy who was

Good place to meet other travellers but quite the party hostel - read: too many drunken gap -year Brits living here for months on end, vomitting on the floor at 5 am and leaving their "rubbish" strewn all across the floor. Also, the place has BED BUGS. Definetly stayed in worse places though. Location was ok, as was the staff.
