Not a great place to stay i'm afraid, very busy with lots of late night partying. Very good location, but very big, making it all a bit faceless. Staff are very helpful and washrooms are adequate but could be cleaner. I really enjoyed staying in this hostel, it exceeded all my expectations! It's location is very good, even though it's not in the harbour. It's really in the centre of the city, close to a trainstation and lots of supermarkets (and the shopping district). This hostel was really clean (you could actually walk barefoot in the bathrooms!) and it had no unpleasant smells. Our room (10 bed mixed dorm) was really big with a constant flow of air which made if very comfortable. So stay here!I really enjoyed staying in this hostel, it exceeded all my expectations! Not bad for a large franchise Hostel, allot better than the others I've been to.
Hostel was able to make sure whole group was in the same room, but was moved from 8 bedder to 10 bedder.Did get free breakfast for the inconvenience which was good.
Only annoyance was my deposit was split across the group and not taken out of my share of the bill, which is how other Hostels have done it for me in the past. Would have saved me the hassle of chasing up money from my mates.Not bad for a large franchise Hostel, allot better than the others I've been to.

This was my 1st hostel in Oz/Sydney & I loved it. It was very sociable, especially with the Scary Canary Bar next door. Met loads of people & didnt feel alone at all.. The only thing I didnt like about it was that there was no Free Wifi. The internet is there but you have to pay for it. I just felt that Wifi should have been free, especially in a hostel like this one!! This was my 1st hostel in Oz/Sydney & I loved it. This is the perfect hostel for singles or groups. The Sanctuary has a fantastic bathroom area and comfortable beds. My only criticism is that in a room with 8 girls there's not much chance of a good night's sleep. I would definitely return to stay at this hostel.This is the perfect hostel for singles or groups.
