The hostel is clean and has activities to do e.g. ping pong and a TV room. To me there was no atmosphere to it and was too big to interact with any other guests, other than those in your room, it felt more like a hotel. Having said that it's next door to scary canaries and we stayed for a week and was fine.

Really nice hostel, was worried as I'm not a real party animal but it wasn't all focused on partying. Staff were rude at some points but I think they were very stressed out I did have to wait a long time to check in and then was told I couldn't get in until 2pm which was a pain. When I checked out the staff were very polite, so I think it depends who you get. The travel information dest was so good, mark was great helped me out a lot and even my friend who wasn't starting at base.Had a good time

Very Good location, next to town hall, right in the center of the City. Mostly unfriendly staff, atmosphere ok.

Good location right next to Darling Harbour and near the main shopping areas. Not to far to walk to the opera house and harbour bridge. Helpful staff and good deals on attractions. nice hostel

Nice place, well located. Although key cards frequently stopped working which meant you were forever going back to reception to get them reprogrammed. The worst part of Base Sydney was the reception desk, there was always a que with not enough staff on so you would que for up to 30 mins at a time. When all you wanted to do was purchase internet time or ask for your mail this was annoying beyond belief.

This was a bad experience for my friend and I considering the reviews we read on line. The only thing that you have going for you is the location. That is it. The staff are the worst part. Not friendly, Not helpful and overall rude.

Arrived late enough after a long flight, first guy i met when i arrived hadnt a clue what he was doing, looked totally confused when i said i had booked through hostel world, finally got my room only to be woken up at 3am to say i was in the wrong room , so was moved out of the 4 bed which i had paid for and put into 6 bed, was again moved 3 more times all into 6 beds until finally the manager put me back into the original room, think it was a disgrace for someone to have being moved at 3am

room organisation wasn't the best. I was switched from one room to the other because beds weren't available. I wasn't given what I paid for at first and had to claim it back.
