The worst exprience I had in this hostel. Staff not friendly and helpful. There's no power plug in room, you only to charge your mobile in toilet or kitchen. It's very noisy during the night as others guest speak loudly and drunk. Can't sleep well during my two nights stay.

Great hostel if you want to stay only 1 or maybe a few days in Sydney thanks to the location, but I would not stay here if I was in Sydney for longer than 3 days.

Overall this is a great hostel, dispite all the reviews. It is clean, staff are helpfull and the free activities are fun. There are lockers under the bed in the room , so enough space to put valuebles. Don't know why people are complaining , had a great time and will be back for sure. THANKS BASE!

I was disappointed with Base - the bathrooms were grubby and I never once saw anybody cleaning anything during 2 days of staying. This hostel is probably great fun if you're 18 and want to party every night, but there are way nicer, cleaner hostels in Sydney with a more relaxed atmosphere.

Amazing hostel, great and helpful staff. They even have "travel gurus" to help you book any excursions or extras you have your eyes on in Sydney! It is a stone's throw from beautiful Darling Harbor and about a 15 minute walk to the Bridge and Opera House. One downside is there are no lockers in the bedrooms, and you have to pay for internet - even wifi. I would stay here a million times over, though - great place!

I really enjoyed my stay at Base in Sydney. The beds were really comfy particularly for a hostel. I had 4 excellent night sleeps. The only downfall was I don't think there was enough cooking utensils, crockery or cutlery for the amount of people who were staying there. I also think there could be more couches near the TV room for people to sit and chat whilst watching others playing ping pong.

I stayed in a co-ed dorm room. There was a nice drawer underneath the bunk to lock your stuff when you went out for the day. The bathroom was a little far from the room which was a bit of a pain when trying to get ready. The common area was nice with a ping pong table and fooseball table as well as a common tv room.

Great hostel with lovely large kitchen and storage space. Could do with some new sheets as mine were stained, but comfy beds, albeit squeaky. Good range of things to do - esp the free BBQs @ the beach & bridge. You pay slightly more for this hostel in comparison with other ones in the city - but you get what you pay for. A fantastic stay & wouldn't hesitate to come back!

The best nights sleep (for over a week) in the 2 months i've been away! Lovely to have more than just a sheet when you sleep. A duvet seems like a luxury. Lockable draws so you don't have to see if you bag fits an upright locker. Skype and webcam on every computer is great!

No problems with this hostel - the only issue I had was with noisy roommates but thats not the hostel's fault. Spacious drawers under the beds which can be padlocked, a lot of space in the rooms, large kitchen, very friendly and helpful staff. Beds are little squeaky but that is it!

I was skeptical about staying at a backpackers to begin with. However, after my stay at Base I would stay again in a heartbeat! Our 6 bed ensuite room was cheap, had everything we needed, was kept clean and was comfortable. Location was perfect - close to all the important attractions and necessities eg transport and Darling Harbour etc. The scary canary bar that is attached to Base was great! Fantastic atmosphere, great tunes n awesome dancing!!! I loved my week at Base & cant wait to come back

The hostel is clean and has activities to do e.g. ping pong and a TV room. To me there was no atmosphere to it and was too big to interact with any other guests, other than those in your room, it felt more like a hotel. Having said that it's next door to scary canaries and we stayed for a week and was fine.

Great hostel, if you want to party, stay here. Originally was going to stay 7 days, but ended up staying 11. The location is pretty great and is within walking distance of almost everything except the beaches. Will stay here again if I ever make it back to Sydney!

Really nice hostel, was worried as I'm not a real party animal but it wasn't all focused on partying. Staff were rude at some points but I think they were very stressed out I did have to wait a long time to check in and then was told I couldn't get in until 2pm which was a pain. When I checked out the staff were very polite, so I think it depends who you get. The travel information dest was so good, mark was great helped me out a lot and even my friend who wasn't starting at base.Had a good time

I can\'t say anything bad about this hostel. I really wish I could stay for a longer time. Amazing place even for single travellers, as there is so much program, that you wont know what to choose!:) 11 from 10!
