Decent base hostel. Kitchen is a little small and dated. Bunk beds are hideously creaky and noisy. Aside from that its at the same level as other base hostels. Decent base hostel. Excellent clean hostel with hotel standard rooms. Much better value than Queenstown and a great location. Plus the staff were really friendly/helpful too. Only downside was that we were opposite TV room which was a bit noisy but that stopped by 12. Also we stayed Sunday and Monday so no noise at all from the bar as reported by others! Wow, this is the nicest hostel that I have ever used. Very nice location, great price, very clean, with a nice bar with nice dinners served at very reasonable prices in the same building and a nice big grocery store right behind the hostel. It doesn't get any better than this hostel let me tell you!Wow, this is the nicest hostel that I have ever used. Not that impressed overall. My bed wasn't clean found multiple hairs in there (none of which belonged to me!) and the bar attached stays open till about 3 am and the bass rings through the entire place. Not to mention that I'm sure the beer was watered down cause after an exspensive night drinkin just couldn't get even tipsy (and I'm a light wieght;)!! Add to all this that the reception completely shuts shop at 10pm cuttin you off from all soft drinks and internet I would not rush back!Not that impressed overall. Really good place to stay if you are visiting Wanaka. Base is perfect if you are looking to visit TC or snowpark in the day and want a bit of life in the evening, I enjoyed my stay there enough that I am going to stay at the Base in Queens town on my way back through!Really good place to stay if you are visiting Wanaka.
