Thank you Base Wellington for a really awesome stay, not going to lie the bed was so comfy!!!!! Especially aided my little hangover, so was just perfect! Always love staying here when I'm in Wellington, it's so central nd has everything I need! The staff are also very helpful and always friendly :)

Base is really well located, in the city center but close to the waterfront. the rooms are nothing fancy, but they are clean and well-equiped, and the big common room is quite nice to hang out a good value for your money

Seriously always choose Base as a last option. Nomads and YHA are so much better and usually somehow cheaper. Stayed at a couple Bases before we figured this out. Stayed at Nomads Wellington on the way back and it was AMAZING. Base is over priced, gross, run down and smells.

Overall stay is good but the windows to our room sounded very weak like they were going to smash at any point due to the wind. Also had sewage pipes running through our room which went off throughout the night. Not particularly pleasant.

We stayed here for 4 nights in mid April. Good sized clean kitchen and eating area. Only 2 showers for the whole floor, but they were clean. Just a standard base hostel like the rest of them in NZ.

nice stay, nice hostel if you like parties (i do ;) ), very nice location, so close to the city center but little bit far to the inter-cities bus station. Facilities okay, could be better, kitchen is dirty and small for all the people. Wellington is soo cool !

If you don't like partying, it's not the right place. But if you do, it's a very nice hostel, poor kitchen, dirty but rooms are all right. Noisy bed. Very far from the nakedbus station but good location straigh in the city center. Huge hostel !

A big, lively hostel. Great location but you are just another paying guest- Not a valued customer! Clean bedrooms and bathrooms are generally ok. Kitchen is ok but very crowded. The big bonus about this hostel is the bar downstairs- Great place to hang out!

Staff were very friendly and very helpful. Security is excellent that .I park my car at the parking just right outside the hostel. Location is excellent very easy to find and right in the middle of the city where the shopping centre and the museum are very near. On the floor where I was the view was very nice at day or night time.

Everyone in the 6 bed room seemed to be paying a different rate for the same dates!? one girl in the room was covered in bed bugs bites in the morning.. I was glad to be leaving then!

Worst night during my New Zealand trip! Dirty, loud, only 18 year old party people making their first experiences in any kind of things. Not recommended at all!!!!

Had an awesome stay at Base Bacpackers! An ideal location for a party weekend as it is right next to courtenay place! My room was really nice - quiet clean and comfortable - all you need from a hostel! The kitchen facilities are excellent if you decide to cook but I opted for the BBQ and beer deal on the sun deck! A great place to relax and enjoy some chill out time! The basement bar run by the hostel too has some awesome deals and is one of the cheapest bars of Wellington! A great stay

It was overpriced, I get that that was because homegrown was on at the time. I thought that girl at the front desk was seriously rude. I was also pissed off the we couldn't check in till 2pm even though when I booked on the Internet, I chose that I would be due to arrive there at 11 and had to mess around for 3 hours while waiting. Your key cards to were unreliable and my friend also woke up with about 15 bed bug bites the next morning. At least I know where not to stay next time :)

Awesome place to stay right in the city, walking distance to everything. Shower is awesome, nice pressure and enough of them that there wasn't much or any waiting round (depending what time you showered of course). People and staff were friendly. Security was good with the building being locked overnight, lockers available which were good if you wanted to leave your bags there after check out (a fee of $3). Facilities were good with access to internet, kitchen, tv etc

I really wish I had something nice to say about this hostel, but staff were awful as was there supposed cleaning having the lockers under the bed is a terrible idea as in a small room with 3 bunks and no where to put your bags so left no room for us to even wo=alk round. Staying the female dorm was a joke as guys used our bathroom etc. Oh and $20 key deopsit and 3% surcharge on using credit cards no where was it mentioned in booking. The only thing I liked bout this hostel was location.

Unfriendly staff, seemed overwhelmed by kiwi experience tourists. The toilet was not clean and smelt.

I stayed at Base while travelling through and would stay there again. Its a great hostel right in the centre of wellington. The rooms was tide and spacious compared to other dorms i have stayed in at other hostels. All the staff were really friendly and always willing to help. I would definitely recommend this hostel to anyone.

This place wasn't that great. Our room had a bed in it that was unmade and looked like some one had been sick in it. To make matters worse the windows in the room could not open so there was zero ventilation and the room smelled very funky. There was a fan in the room to move the gross air around but it was covered in dust. : / One of the least pleasant hostels I stayed at in NZ. Next to a a lot of restaurants and bars though. Was quiet at night.
