For a hostel run by a company that is so big they have missed this one i stayed there for 2 nights and as the bar is open till 3am if you want to sleep b4 then forget it as all rooms can hear the music. Don't get me wrong i love partying but this place just does not cover for a clilled night off. Also there is only one shower working over the 1st and 2nd floor for the men this needs to be looked at.For a hostel run by a company that is so big they have missed this one i stayed there for 2 nights and as the bar is open till 3am if you want to sleep b4 then forget it as all rooms can hear the music. No aircon, very hot. Loud thumping bass from the club in the basement all night. Only 8 working (mens) showers for the whole place. Poor kitchen. No aircon, very hot. Loud thumping bass from the club in the basement all night. Only 8 working (mens) showers for the whole place. Poor kitchen....Close

probably the worst hostel i've stayed at. Dirty sheets still on my bed when i arrived, smelly room, door wouldn't close properly, buckets everywhere because of leaky roof - very dingy for a 'palace'probably the worst hostel i've stayed at. Room was very messy but that is down to the people staying there, not the staff - my bed looked slept in.
Other than that, all was good - great location.Room was very messy but that is down to the people staying there, not the staff - my bed looked slept in.

was far better then I expected. However I booked the palace hostel, and when I arrived they told me I was at the wrong palce. I clearly asked for the palace and thats what I paid for. Although it was minor issue, it still woulf have been nice to stay at the hostel I asked for. But overall my stay was very enjoyable. was far better then I expected. I was traveling with a friend, so I had a booking for two beds in one room and when I arrived there was no room with two beds available, so we had to sleep in different rooms and with a different specification that the one I booked (mixed instead of female room). Then when I tried two pay, no one seems to understand the rate that was on my booking or that I made a deposit for the booking, so I spent a fare amount of time in the reseption trying to pay what I should.I was traveling with a friend, so I had a booking for two beds in one room and when I arrived there was no room with two beds available, so we had to sleep in different rooms and with a different specification that the one I booked (mixed instead of female room). we came to Brisbane to go to Moreton Island. We enjoyed our fist night enough to book a second night following our return from Moreton. We booked at Palace\'s front desk and they swiped my card for the reservation. When we arrived back at the hostel 30 hrs later our reservations had been lost and there were no more beds available. The staff were able to get us bunks at Embassy, but i was still annoyed with the loss of our reservations. we came to Brisbane to go to Moreton Island. Nice central location and easy to get anywhere as train station just across the road.
Friendly, helpfull staff.
Old historic building and rooms are basic but very clean (which is important).
Felt secure there and able to leave my stuff in my room (I had a single room).
Good place to stay if you just want a bed for a night or two whilst in Brisbane.
(just done the survey and seems like I'm an old fart for a place like this, but i didn't mind staying there)
