Very good idea for late check in, even without staff you can grab your key safely. very nice place near to other cultural activities!! quite noisy at night, no staff at reception so people screamed and sang all night long!

The hostel supplies you with a tram card which can save you a lot of money and time. It makes getting around super easy. It was a nice little perk.

Hay opciones más céntricas pero al darte una tarjeta de transporte gratuito tampoco se nota mucho. Sitio tranquilo. Por qué no?

Good location in a cool area, friendly front desk staff. Bathrooms smell but that's my only complaint, everything else was fine.

There was a really bad stench from the toilets, but other than that, it was a wonderful hostel...

Very nice place to stay, great value for money. It's a bit difficult to find the tram station, but then, the location isn't hard to find. They can help you in charting up an itinerary.

Clean facilities and a comfortable bed. Somewhat limited checkin times should be on Hostelworld site. Although they did kindly let me checkin out of these hours.

I can't say too much about the hostel environment, since we were only here from the hours of 11 pm - 4 am and spent one night to catch an early plane ride...but the staff was extrememly accomodating. We paid for the dorm room, but ended up being the only ones in it! It was so nice to have a quiet area to sleep before boarding our plane out of Basel early in the morning. Thank you!

Basel Back Pack was in a relatively good location (5 minutes to the tram, which is free with a pass the hostel provides), but was kind of grungy and the beds weren't very comfortable.

The beds are comfortable but the bathroom constantly wreaked and the pile of dirty dishes in the kitchen were disgusting.

What a treasure I found in Basel Back Pack! The location was central- at the end of this courtyard with charming bars, cafés and I think even a couple art galleries. Think urban chic! The staff was really friendly and let my friend and I check in several hours early and even drop off our bags in our room! Comfy beds with down comforters, too. PS. The breakfast is not free, it now costs 8 francs, but the included transportation card makes up for that. Tram system is convenient and easy.

Good location in a quiet, residential area but only 10-15 mins walk from the centre or take the tram for FREE. Clean rooms, excellent shower and kitchen facilities and a great bar area.

it was horrible staying at the Back Pack Hostel. we stayed there for 2 nights and it was impossible to sleep. there groups of people making too much noise and there was nobody to tell them to shut up. we saw several cockroaches while preparing the breakfast. we wouldn't come back for sure.

Very stylish hostel. Clean and nicely decorated rooms. Extraordinary friendly staff. Only short walk to the main attractions in Basel. I would definetely go there again.
