Loved this hostel so much! It was in such a beautiful area. There's a pool and two dogs which sealed the deal. Super chilled out with lots of cool people to hang out with. I'd recommend doing the wine tasting, very fun!
Beautiful location and incredibly peaceful once settled in. The building and the grounds are packed with character. Plenty of places for both solace and socialising. Staff are friendly and helpful and the place has a peaceful yet active atmosphere. Maps and instructions to accommodation need to be revised for clarity and accuracy! A fan in rooms for the warmer months would go a long way towards having a good night's sleep.
I had such a great 3 nights here - the staff are so friendly and really work so hard to keep the place amazing and organise activities. Was great to have a few days chilling by the pool and completely unwind. I cannot fault this guesthouse except fans in the rooms would have been great as it was so hot!
Perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of busy city was amazing. But reception is hardly open
I am so happy I stumbled upon this place. It is nice that it is out of city. The staff is amazing! They work very hard to maintain the grounds and plan events for guests. They help create the incredible atmosphere at the Bassetto. I felt very at home as soon as I arrived. Plan on staying longer than you thought you'd want to. This place will put its spell on you. You can remain very active here or just relax in pool while enjoying the beautiful grounds.
The only thing I can complain about were the mosquitoes inside the rooms and the fact that you cannot use wifi inside the rooms or common area because the signal doesn't reach there. Overall, the staff was great and the activities the guests had as options too!
Had an absolute blast staying there, feels like a vacation inside your trip. Definitely stay for a couple of nights as you can do plenty of stuff in and around the area where it is located. Drinking wine as the sun set in the old town was an absolute highlight of my trip!
Forget Florence and stay here, you will be glad you did
Best hostel in the world! Amazing staff, amazing daytrips, the other guests are awesome, and there's a pool. Can't speak highly enough about this place.
Had a great stay here, very sociable and tons of activities to do. Staff are very friendly and communal areas are great for cooking own food. Only downside would be the outdated bathrooms.
This hostel was my highlight of Italy. There are so many activities organised, the staff are all so helpful and lovely. Its a bit isolated, so everyone at the hostel quickly becomes good friends. Easily one of the best hostels for solo travellers wanting to meet people. We hired scooters and rode to San Gimiagno one day, did an amazing wine tasting, spent every morning and afternoon in the swimming pool, and drank wine at sunset on top of Certaldo Alto. Also the kitchen is great and always clean.
Great hostel! Small so you get to meet cool people in an awesome setting! Sit around the kitchen table, cook a meal and have some drinks after a day of biking or relaxing in the pool. They do seem to charge for everything though... Even a ghost tour costs money which is a walk around the guest house.
Amazing place if your looking to chill out and gather your thoughts. Staff were very helpful and always keen for a good chat ! Would recommend this place to anyone.
It is way out. But that's the charm. It's not the busy hustle and bustle of Florence and Rome. It's a wonderful place to just chill, drink wine, sit by the pool, play drinking games with roomies, rent a Vespa, see the countryside and enjoy your vacation away from your vacation for a few days. Amazing place to meet people and to chill. Only negatives were the Mosquitos (bring bug spray or suffer!!!!!!!) the showers and the lack of ac inside. Totally will visit again
This hostel was awesome! At first I was under the impression it was located in Florence which it definitely is not, but that didnt bother me. The staff was awesome, the people staying there are cool and the swimming pool and hammocks are perfect for hanging out and being lazy

Awesome hostel in a beautiful area of Florence. The walk from the train station is hard in the near but there is a swimming pool waiting for you at the other end. I met some cool people in the flat- it is very social. Downsides would be the lack of aircon, 2 bathrooms between 24 people, and the dogs that love to bark all night long just outside the window. Overall great atmosphere and a lovely escape from the busy cities nearby. Easy to reach all ofntuscany via train station.
The most wonderful guesthouse!! Not actually in Florence, located an hour away but perfectly easy to get to and from the city with regular trains. This place was idyllic, beautiful surroundings in a sleepy town in Tuscany. The hostel runs lots of activities like wine tasting and a pasta cooking class, and trips to local points of interest. We chose this place as a break from our city tour of Europe, and had the best time chilling by the pool all day and meeting new people. Definitely come here!

I had been apprehensive about staying in a small town located more than 30 kilometres from Florence when what I thought I wanted to do was stay in the heart of one of the world's cultural epicentres. But staying at Bassetto Guesthouse turned out to be one of the best moves of my tour through Italy. The atmosphere in the guesthouse is absolutely fantastic and has a very homely feel. Perfect if you fancy getting away from the hustle and bustle of Rome and Florence and delving into "real" Tuscanny.
The best hostel I have stayed at in Italy by far!!! Do all the activities you can!
Handy location in a popular hostel. Can catch train to Florence, Siena, etc. Lots of activities organised by hostel - eg wine tasting or trips to nearby historic towns. Semi-rural atmsosphere. Small swimming pool to cool down in. Building is very old and could do with some basic maintenance. Dorms are very hot in summer (no fan in dorms) Essentially there isn't any security, but then it's semi-rural, so maybe that's not so necessary.
