Had a great stay here, very sociable and tons of activities to do. Staff are very friendly and communal areas are great for cooking own food. Only downside would be the outdated bathrooms.
Awesome hostel in a beautiful area of Florence. The walk from the train station is hard in the near but there is a swimming pool waiting for you at the other end. I met some cool people in the flat- it is very social. Downsides would be the lack of aircon, 2 bathrooms between 24 people, and the dogs that love to bark all night long just outside the window. Overall great atmosphere and a lovely escape from the busy cities nearby. Easy to reach all ofntuscany via train station.
The most wonderful guesthouse!! Not actually in Florence, located an hour away but perfectly easy to get to and from the city with regular trains. This place was idyllic, beautiful surroundings in a sleepy town in Tuscany. The hostel runs lots of activities like wine tasting and a pasta cooking class, and trips to local points of interest. We chose this place as a break from our city tour of Europe, and had the best time chilling by the pool all day and meeting new people. Definitely come here!

I had been apprehensive about staying in a small town located more than 30 kilometres from Florence when what I thought I wanted to do was stay in the heart of one of the world's cultural epicentres. But staying at Bassetto Guesthouse turned out to be one of the best moves of my tour through Italy. The atmosphere in the guesthouse is absolutely fantastic and has a very homely feel. Perfect if you fancy getting away from the hustle and bustle of Rome and Florence and delving into "real" Tuscanny.
The best hostel I have stayed at in Italy by far!!! Do all the activities you can!
Handy location in a popular hostel. Can catch train to Florence, Siena, etc. Lots of activities organised by hostel - eg wine tasting or trips to nearby historic towns. Semi-rural atmsosphere. Small swimming pool to cool down in. Building is very old and could do with some basic maintenance. Dorms are very hot in summer (no fan in dorms) Essentially there isn't any security, but then it's semi-rural, so maybe that's not so necessary.
great place to stay, was a while lot of fun and the best place in Italy I've been so far too
What a fantastic time i had at this Hostel. Beautiful town in the heart of Tuscany, friendly staff, exciting activities. Most importantly i met the most amazing people and will always remember the week i spent here. Go to the Mercantia festival in July if you can. It'll blow your mind.
Everyone who worked at Fattoria Bassetto was welcoming, friendly and helpful. Fattoria Bassetto was once a monastery and is full of character and history. The opportunity of meeting and getting to know fellow travellers staying at the guesthouse greatly adds to the adventure. There were many interesting activities to take part in and which brought people together - for instance: pasta-making, bike rides, wine-tasting, horse riding and swimming to the pool.

Lovely location to explore the vineyards and towns of tuscany. Staff were extremely helpful and it was nice to chill with them on the amazing terrace. There are daily events organized from wine tastings to cooking classes so it's easy to meet people and discover what Tuscany has to offer. Unique and historic place. Stay here for sure.
Soooo amazing. I went with a friend. It felt like a honeymoon though. This is the perfect getaway from traveling mostly in cities. Theres a pool too.
Great if your trying to stay outside the city. I chilled in the hammock and pool all day. Staff are really cool and nice. Cooking class is overpriced and thats all i can really say bad about it. I really enjoyed the ghost tour. Wish i could have stuck around for wine tasting.
Do yourself a favour & enjoy the full Tuscan experience by staying here. Ivan, Carly and Anna were the most amazing bunch of people running the hostel at the moment. The hostel has an incredibly welcoming & friendly vibe. Stay in an old historic building. Chill out- enjoy the pool & hammocks during the day or go out & visit medieval walled castles nearby. Do day trips to Pisa, Lucca and Siena. Enjoy staying in a place away from the tourists and the crowds with a small group of other backpackers
I could rave about this hostel for hours. Great little spot in Tuscany that is excellent to relax in. Staff is incredibly friendly and all of the events they offer are great, if a bit pricey. (Cooking classes, wine tasting, etc.) I originally booked two nights and just had to spend an extra one here. The rooms are nothing special and the wifi only really works outside but trust me that's this place's only flaw. Remember that this place is not actually in Florence, it's 40 mins away by train.
Absolutely loved staying at Bassetto Guesthouse! It's not in Florence so don't get confused, but this hostel is such a great place to stay that I wouldn't let that worry you. It was the perfect place to stay, relax and soak up some authentic Italian culture!
Initially booked this thinking it was close to Florence, but it's actually about an hour train ride away. But turned out to be a nice surprise of a small Tuscany town. The staff are amazing and the city itself is in the middle of beautiful Tuscany. Facilities are ok, nothing amazing. Security is pretty lax but it shouldn't be a problem. It's a short ride to San Gimignano, which is definitely a must see. Definitely a nice little relaxation stop in the backpacking journey.
The bassetto was easy to find and an interesting experience. It's about a 20 minute walk from the train station (with backpacks) and about a 50 minute train from Florence. If you're looking to stay in a rustic, Italian place then this is perfect. The bathrooms are very outdated but the building is 700+ years old. We got a "ghost tour" where they showed us around the place with a history of the grounds. There was a communal table/food bowl and kitchen. Most people hung out and talked all evening.
Stay here!! It is the best hostel ever! I booked it thinking it was much closer to Florence than it actually is, but I'm very glad it turned out to be in a small town! It's close to several small towns that are hidden gems that most people miss, so it's the perfect place if you're tired of the big cities. The hostel also hosts several activities which are reasonably priced and very fun. Great atmosphere all the time, but especially during dinner when everyone makes pasta and relaxes. Book it
need to address the following; wifi connection to dorm rooms, maps of florence, luke warm showers. plus 1 1/2 miles from train station to hostel location, needs shuttle service.
Nice atmosphere, nice people. Thought that we would be a little closer to Florence (one hour with train + 30min walk from train station).
