It's a bit run down, but for the price and location, this can be totally overlooked. It's easy walking distance to the bus terminal and the CBD. The staff were amazingly helpful and friendly.

This is a bare bones hostel, there's a kitchen, but not even some instant coffee/teabags on offer. What facilities there were weren't pointed out upon arrival and there didn't seem to be any communal area with a TV or couches to interact with other travellers. We also had no hot water for our entire stay. This was brought to the staff's attention more than once and although apologies were forthcoming, there was no offer of even a partial refund or voucher for a drink in a nearby bar/cafe.

The central location is the best thing about this place. (The strangely advertised 'one bed mixed dorm' is actually two bunks and you might have to share.)

BED BUGS! Bathroom door to ensuite blows open as no runner at bottom which is pretty awkward since the other occupant of the room can see into the toilet and shower. No pillow on the bed. Really noisy. Very expensive for how old and dirty it is.

We had a nice stay in this hotel. The staff are very kind and helpful! The only big supermarket there is also within walking distance from the hotel. Internet is available but becomes quite slow when many guests are using at the same time.

I wouldn't spend more than one night in this hostel/hotel. The sink in our room was blocked (looked like has been blocked for a while). Low price and location are the best features of this place.

The 4 bed female room was very squished. The one bin in the room was already full when we checked in and there was no sanitary bin in the bathroom. No bowls in the kitchen. The website says that linen is included, yet we had to pay for linen. Don't think we'd recommend it.

Although friendly the staff had little knowledge on how to reach surrounding areas in Tasmania. It doesn't have a very social atmosphere, but it is a close walk to the main mall and galleries. The history of the building is it's strong suit. Nothing else particularly exciting about it. The showers were hot and the rooms very clean.
