Sweet hostel! Good people!

Dirty kitchen, wouldn't recommend if you want it quiet at night and no party going on

There was only one roll of toilet paper a day and on the1st day, someone threw it out the window. The bathroom didn't have any bathmats in it on the first night, so someone had left a soaking towel in there which was conveniently draped over the bath, so it was also dripping on to the already saturated lino floor. The floor of the shower was filthy on the first night (I had to wear my jandals) and the shower flooded on both of the nights we stayed there. I doubt we will return.

This is the filthiest, most revolting hostel I have ever stayed in. The shower curtains were mouldy; the floor in kitchen and ensuite were filthy with a mass of hair and muck in the corner; no toilet paper; broken washing machine; pool was a sick-making dirty green colour; the kitchen was a mess of food, cutlery, glasses and rubbish all around the place. The main problem is that hungover residents are the 'cleaners'. Staff clearly don't give a toss about anything other than having a good time.

Its a nice backpackers! But the kitchen is very dirty and nearly no space in the fridge!!! And there is just 1 bike and 1 kayak so if you are a couple or traveling with someone you can't do it..

Bay adventures was a brilliant location, close to the beach and town in Paihia. We had a double room which was spacious and had a really comfortable bed. And an ensuite toilet, which we weren't aware of and was an added bonus. The staff were really helpful and friendly. The shower facilities were good, the kitchen not so much. As said in most of the other reviews it was messy and people hadn't bothered to wash up, which was a big shame and let the place down! The wifi and bikes were not great!

When we arrived, no staff member was on site and we had to wait for about 30 minutes. Tried to ring the mobile number but nobody answered. Cupboards in the room were not cleaned, neither was the carpet. The room is small for six people to stay, specially if you don't know each other. Kitchen was fine, but the ladies bathrooms... Paper overflowing rubbish bin, dirty hand basins. The location is great, very close to the centre with pubs and restaurants. And still it is quiet during the night.

Absolutely loved my stay here at Bay Adventurer. Great facilities, especially the new secondary kitchens and bathrooms. Heaps of cool extras like free wifi, free international calls, pool, hot tub etc. Staff were excellent and made heaps of recommendations for activities in the area. Space and cleanliness of the kitchen is great now that there is a second kitchen. Very social place at this time of year and met heaps of great people. I would definitely stay here again!!

Friendly staff but very untidy kitchen. Stayed for a week and room wasn't cleaned at least once!!! Would not recommend to go there!

It was a nice hostel with in ny opinion a great atmosphere and plenty facilities (pool, tennis court, bikes, free international calls). The only serious disadvantage was the really dirty kitchen. Despite being cleaned in the morning it was dirty by 11am. Furthermore the fridgerators were really dirty and there was a lack of dry and clean teatowels. Every other facility was perfectly clean.

Worse hostel i had in NZ. Disgusting kitchen and bathroom. I stayed 3 nights and they came to do the bedroom cleaning only the last day. Very noisy. No internet working. Horrible fridge... Could do a list of négative points dont go there !!!

This hostel definitely has potential but unfortunately was a disappointment. The kitchen is filthy and I've no idea why, but it's the worst I've experienced. The wifi is really weak and unreliable. The en suite in my dorm wasn't cleaned in 6 days. The hot tub was cold. In terms of positives, my bed was comfortable and the outside area is good for socialising if the weather is good.

In general I liked this hostel as it has a friendly and social vibe to it. The staff were very friendly and made a real effort. The only thing is that the kitchen was very unclean during usual meal times. When the staff cleaned up it was great, but I think a better effort to ensure people clean their own dishes etc not to be set. Also, the fridge didn't have enough space to fit everyone's stuff in and so people's food constantly got moved around.

Great atmosphere! Dorms are alright, staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Kitchen is always a mess but staff really cleans it regularly. If you book your dorm with hostelworld is cheaper than directly which makes no sense at all.

Great atmosphere, benches in the main area outside the rooms means it's very sociable. Security shut down the area at 11pm as they encourage you to go to the beach or to a bar. means that if you want to go to sleep, after 11pm it's very quiet. The kitchen is quite small and fridge space isn't huge, the girls showers tended to flood the floor. However, overall I had a good time here, staff were hellpful and friendly and the location is 2mins walk to the beach.

Was just a bit loud as many party people were staying there and at the place next door. But I still enjoyed all the great facilities the place offered! Tennis and the pool was fun

Great Hostel!. I would live there. Great location, great atmosphere, super clean and good facilities. Kitchen big enough. Nice comfortable beds (the best ones I ever slept in hostels), and super helpful nice staff. I met a lot of nice cool people.

The guy at the reception, Eric, made an excellent job. He was really nice and helped us with everything: activities, bookings, etc... We really enjoyed our stay at the Bay Adventurer, nice rooms, nice people, good facilities. Only the kitchen could have been a little bit more tidy and clean.
