we booked a mixed dorm of 6 and got it to ourselves for the whole of our stay, 4 nights! that was awesome! Our food got thrown out from the frigde. Kind of our own fault for not putting it in the plastic containers as the note on the frigde door suggests. The plastic bag had our names and room number written on, but apparently that wasn't good enough. Over all a nice hostel, loved the music playing on the courtyard.

Showers not great - in the females, first one in didn't work, second one dribbled cold, skipped the third one and tried the fourth, a good one, but flooded instantly. Bit gross - especially when the whole floor is wet and muddy (Though 50% of the time the bathroom was clean - good size too). Great rooms though and appreciated the lockers - necessary when you're sharing with people who don't lock the dorm door. Good utilities in the kitchen. Great place to socialise.

We had a brilliant stay at Bay Adventurer, Bay of Islands. The staff were lovely and helpful and gave us lots of advice of where to go and what to see. The rooms were spacious, clean and the communal areas likewise.

The receptionist wasn't the most friendly or helpful (the one on the second morning was better). THe internet was out for the entire first night, then I was sold a pass for the second day and the internet timed out every two minutes. THen had a drunk girl sneak a boy in one of the nights, so it wasn't the most pleasant of stays. The bathroom facilities are also not in the rooms.

Great hostel! Perfectly located near (but not too near) a few chill bars and just two blocks from the beach. Rooms were very clean, in part because food & drink are not allowed in the rooms. Kitchen was immaculate and the lounge area was nice. Didn't see any heating, so I would be wary of staying there in winter, but it's perfect for the other 3 seasons. Sliding glass doors to the room, which meant great light & beachy feeling. Also got a room to myself for a night after the others left.

internet not working, and has not been taking care of during our stay. kitchen left dirty the entire day by the "cleaners" themselves (young backpackers cleaning for a free room I guess) until the next morning at 10am, time at which they are cleaning it...
