I booked a place at this hostel but they denied my admission after I comment that they should publish their unusual luggage storage policy on their info in the policy.

This hostel had no atmosphere at all, only one member of staff working at any time, and only one of them could speak english the other couldn't even direct us to a cashpoint. The hostel itself was clean, big kitchen, nice sitting area and bar, if you wanted a really quiet stay it would be okay, however the area of Botafogo has nothing to really offer, you're a ten minute taxi from Copacabana but even the girl working at the desk told us she wouldn't walk the nearby streets as it isn't safe.

Out of the way for walking down to the big beaches, this hostel compensates by easy access to all the major bus lines. They have very helpful tours described in a trip folder and also provide information on DIY adventures. The non-AC rooms were fairly warm in winter, so they might be hard to bear in summer. The mattresses are also covered in plastic which makes for warm sleeping and it feels funky when the sheets slip. But the staff is very helpful and the kitchen is clean and easy to use!

A very good hostel, clean and with almost brand-new beds and a good breakfast. The stuff doesn't speak much English and we had a little difficulty to communicate with them, especially that they didn't know about our Hostelworld reservation and we had to convince them. But at the end they gave us beds in a 8-bed dorm instead of 12-bed dorm for the same money :-)

My stay at this hostel was very nice : nice staff, goof breakfast, clean rooms and a nice terrasse outside where we could have drinks all together. However, I thought the laundry service was very expensive (30 reais !) and it is also the ONLY hostel where I've been that makes you pay for keeping your bags once you've checked out... Very nice, but could be even better !

Nothing to tell about it except "Everything is perfect here! If you're looking for a place to stay in Rio which is cheap and cool, this is place!" Go there!

Great location, close to a metro. Lots of shops etc. The hostel has great facility's such as a kitchen, tv and seating area, also an outdoor seating area which are clean, a really cute dog, well there's two, not sure if one of them live here but they play together which is really funny The dorms(16 bed)however are really dodgy, triple bunks which are really wobbly. Also have bedbugs, which are big enough to see, which is really off putting and the fans sound like there's a helicopter in the room

The guy in the reception (David) was really helpful and friendly the other staff not too much. The place could be more clean, the sheets, toilets.... The coommon area and the breakfast buffet was good but the rooms are pretty small, it's a little bit claustrofobic sleep in a 3 bunk bed.

At a time other than Carnival the hostel would be good value for money.

Nice hostel, info available on what to do in Rio and where to go. It gets a thorough cleaning every day. Breakfast is reasonable. The beds in the big dorm are a bit shaky. Staff is friendly and helpful. There were reports of bed bugs however at the time, but not sure if this comes from the beds since they have plastic protection over the beds. More likely to come from the sofas.

I made a booking on hostel world and when I arrived the hostel was full - no refund for my deposit from Hostelworld or the hostel. At the same time another group of girls arrived and the same thing had happened - Disaster! I contacted Hostel world about this and I got no response...... fantastic service!!!

Orignaly i think the hostel is a cool place, but there were way too many people in the outside area as well as in the bedroom. hence the bedrooms are way too small for all the people who are in there and you also pretty surrounded by luggage all time. the also had the new version of bankbeds in the dorm, which are triple beds.

The strongest point: staff, breakfast, atmosphere, full equiped kitchen To improve: cold shower, no space for baggage in the bedroom, noisy plastic covered matress.

Rooms were cramped with 3 story beds, air conditioning helped, Staff were AWESOME, friendly helpful nothing to much trouble. Kitchen and living room and outdoor area all acceptable. Place was infested with bedbugs, general consensus seemed to be- too expensive to fumigate rooms.

Comfortable, laid back hostel with good facilities, including a large kitchen. Breakfast is excellent with much choice. Overall, a great little hostel.

I was here for new year. It´s great for meeting people. It has a nice communal area with a big tv and comfy couches. It isn´t the cleanest and the 12 bed dorms have three tiers and seemed unsafe. A decent place to stay on balance.
