Very good location for a hostel, but the Internet was terrible and we had a boiler in our room that only allowed one person to shower before waiting a life time for it to re-heat enough for the next person. Reasonably priced and good tour offers.

The most hot showers I have ever used! Also it has a great location to all the main sights like forbidden city etc. Great hostel. Their Great Wall tour is also incredible!

I did have a great time staying in BJ Downtown Backpackers. Staff are nice and helpful to answer inquiries. There is a nice common room group backpackers chatting together. The provided breakfast is nice. Most importantly, it is very warm in the room in this chilly winter.

Location down the most amazing Alley steeped in history and swollen with night time market stalls cooking and selling the most amazing food and handmade goods. Chinese NYE was incredible with the staff getting fireworks just for our kids to light. Staff always so helpful and directing us to the best way to see and do attractions. Breakfast was the worst eggs and bacon Ive ever tasted but it was free & included so anything was good. Bar loved hanging out with our kids, Thanks Undie :) Clean great

The hostel was good all in all especially for the money. The bed was the most comfortable we have ever slept in in China. But, and this is the biggest disadvantage, the bathroom is not very good. It´s so tiny that if you take a shower, everything, even the room, gets wet and you cannot use it anymore until the evening. Also the situation with the towels is a bit strange. We would highly recommend the kung fu show, while the Beijing Opera is the worst way to waste your money we can think of.

GREAT location. Very friendly staff. Stayed here 6 nights in twin room with a friend. Free breakfast is super convenient, as is the cafe, which serves mean western food if you feel like a break from Chinese food. Very quiet in winter which gave it a chilled out vibe. Only downside is that there is no wifi in rooms.

The hotel offer is generally satisfactory but we have minor comment on the site trip to Jin Shan Ling portion of Great Wall. We has been told that the tour guide will follow us during the trekking but he was just stopped at the Carpark only. It is a bit of misleading when we were there because we did not know the exact location for trekking ended. Meanwhile, no towel is provided and we have to rent it up.

Great Location and good simple free Breakfast. Bathroom could have been more clean and if you take a shower the whole Bathroom is flooded

Hotel was in great location, down a busy street a few min walk from a metro station. Forbidden City etc within walking distance. Easy to get to from the main train station just follow their directions. Got a double private room. Decent size with powerful hot shower. Only complaint was that it was freezing - the heating is controlled centrally and only comes on low at about 11pm - it was 0degrees outside in december! Breakfast was fine. staff helpful. offer tours/trips.no wifi in rooms.

Quite a nice hostel in the middle of the Hutong area, so just around the corner from a lot of little bars and restaurants. The staff is very friendly and ready to help at any time. However, although the hostel has its own bar / café, there weren't too many people hanging out -- not great if you're travelling alone. Also, contrary to the description on HW, you cannot pay by credit card, so make sure to bring along enough cash. Do take the Great Wall Hiking Tour, it's amazing!!!

The atmosphere of the hutong Downtown Backpackers is located on is great at night, and it's a short ~5 min walk to the end of the alley to the subway station. Very convenient. There wasn't a large common area, although I did see a room that was closed off, but that's the reason for being slightly lower on the atmosphere rating. Besides that, they have GREAT tours available that really take you to quality places (we did the intense hiking one), and the rooms are comfortable and clean.

I love the location of this Hostel! It's located in one of the best Hutongs in Beijing. I stayed in a single room,at this hostel, during my stay in Beijing. I wasn't too fond of my room's size and the hardness of my bed. They did, however, keep the facilities very clean, which I did like. The breakfast options sucked but then again, I'm a vegetarian, so I only ate the bread. The prices at the restaurant associated with this hostel are extremely too high; not worth eating there, go elsewhere.

If u have the cover for the quilt, that would be better. not only a sheet to cover, and the dirty quilt.

The hostel has a great location just in the hutongs, 10 min walk to a metro station and near the drum tower. Enough good little restaurants. The beer in the hostel is 4Y and super cheap! We had a Nice little group of people when i was there, but the overall atmosphere wasnt that social. Staff was helpfull but dont speak really good english. The great wall trip was amazing! En suit bathroom: Nice but every gets slippery and wet. Wifi just in the common, really quite slow though.

Great Stay! Perfect location, minutes away to the subway; tuk tuk ride to Temples; amazing night market and bar street. Definitely the place to stay, staff are super helpful and have no problem helping you arrange trips. Great Wall Trip was one of the best value ones we could find.

Downtown Backpackers is in a really great neighborhood with lots of great food and character. I stayed in room 204 which didn't have internet, but the common room and internet room worked. The staff was helpful if you had questions about how to get places. The BEER is REALLY CHEAP! This wasn't a very social hostel, but that might have been because it was winter. The breakfast is good and included. There are train tickets from Pingyao to Xian, don't let them tell you otherwise.

Really awesome hostel. Perfect location for shopping around at night and finding a good place to eat. The staff is really helpful. We booked a great wall tour and airport rides through them, too. Both of these were excellent, especially the great wall. I have stayed at many hostels all around the world and this was without a doubt one of the best all-around hostels I have been too.
