great spot and near to lots of the sites - also a small taste of real beijing. Basic but all you need - also some good trips that they can organise. Recommend to the backpacker AND those wanting a slightly mor interesting place to stay

The hostel was very clean and the room was really nice, they have courtins in each bed so you can have a private space when you go to sleep. It is close to the subway station (about 10min walk), however it is situated in one of the most agitated streets of Beijing (with a lot of restaurants, shops and bars). Even though that sounded awesome at first, it was just a huge hasslle everytime you had to leave the hostel in the morning and arrive at night (really crowded). Staff wasn't very friendly.

I have posted "Good" instead of "Excellent" for most of the criteria, which is fair enough. Maybe hostelling in the Dashilar part of city is a bit less of Disney Hutong. Around here more ice-cream shops than backpacker convenience stores. But the staff - Doris and Zachary & Windy & others - are nice and friendly and helpful - the essential oils of a good hostel. Breakfast next door is included; but ho-hum. But I'm not complaining. The dorm is fine. Clean. Met fine people. Felt safe. Good feel.

Good hostel. Rooftop patio good for meeting people...sometimes... but sometimes not . Then you're kinda screwed for that

The 4-bed dorm is great, since it's made up of individual beds and not bunks beds. Each has a curtain, light, and plug, allowing for privacy and functionality. The breakfast is eggs, bacon, and toast -- nothing special, but after weeks of chinese food, also nice. The great wall tour is good!

Had a great stay at this hostel , not much night life in China but the backpackers help. Hostel is in a better area of Beijing , easy to just jump on the metro and see whatever you need to

Great hostel, awesome location and the dorm I stayed had single beds in a spacious room. Lockers were Available and the Great Wall of china out was also good.

Overall a great stay. It was a little annoying to have to rent a towel and also the room not having a key was a little unsettling at first, but if you can get beyond those to minor inconveniences, this is a great hostel for singles or small groups located very centrally in a cool area of hotungs.

Not a bad place, the fact I didn't get given a room key was a bit odd, meant I was a little uneasy about leaving things in my room. Good staff, must have been quiet time as there weren't many around in hostel. Good spot, plenty to see and do in the viscinity.

I enjoyed my 6 night stay at Downtown Backpackers. The location is awesome, very secure always busy and lots to do! Also staff very friendly. The beds were Soft 😍 and they had curtains which was a plus. Wifi worked most of the time. Social-wise, it was a bit different to how I expected, not much of a hangout place to meet people but there was a little room (which they could make bigger as no one sits in the basement common room anyway) but met people in the room, also good wall trip!

The hostel staff is pretty solid, they'll help you out in a bind but they aren't super friendly people. Don't expect enthusiastic staff who are super friendly, just ones that'll do their job. The big thing about this place is that my room didn't have a key, we had to basically keep our rooms unlocked at all times but they have a very fancy locker system downstairs. The common space sucks, so it's not easy to meet up with others but overall the hostel was nice.

Good place but PLEASE AVOID THE FOOD it's disgusting, also the staff is rarely able to call you a cab and sometimes nonchalant. Otherwise amazing value for this price

The stay included a breakfast, small lockers for valuables are free, our room did not have a window but was having nice simple furniture and it was very cosy and comfy, bathroom was clean and functional, hot water available. Helpful staff, tour to the wall was 280 rmb and worked out as promised (it basically included nothing but transport).all in all: great stay

Totally value for money as the location is great and is a very nice place overall. However, they could do with shower curtains (there wasn't any in our bathroom so it was quite a mess every time somebody took a shower) and a larger common area. Their 6km tour to the wall is fantastic!

Great hostel. Staff is friendly and helpful, and more importantly fluent in English.breakfast included is the best thing for budget travelers, saves you from wandering in overpriced cafes for a breakfast. location is good,5 minutes walk from the subway station but the street is extremely overcrowded on weekends and holidays so be prepared when going out or arivong on these times.(becomes impossible to walk through in less then 15-20 minutes). The tours and shows they provide booking are superb!

Had an awesome experience staying at downtown backpacker. Room is clean and the bathroom is fine too. Location is in the central of Beijing, making travelling very easy to all the attractions. I will definitely advice travelers to go along with the Great Wall tour provided by the Hostel as they are really trying to provide customers with a really affordable and good tour. Will definitely be staying at Beijing Downtown Backpackers during my next trip in Beijing.
