The hostel was nice and right on the bustling street of the Hutongs, which gave you lots of food options. I enjoyed the breakfast each morning, although sometimes the toast was a bit stale. The staff were very helpful and had good knowledge of how to get to most places. Thanks for a pleasant stay!

When I arrived at the Beijing Downtown Backpackers hostel I thought of one word: "Awesome!" . There are mini journal entries adorning the walls, a small beverage shop, two excellent computers to use, wonderfully clean shower facilities both in the room and for the entire hostel, and the staff working there are patient and kind and eager to solve any problem you give them.

Fine place - stayed in a 6 bed dorm. Couldn't really get loud because there was nowhere to gather. Doors on the dorm needed to be opened by a staff member, so we generally left the room unlocked unless we had all left. There were free lockers in the basement to store stuff securely. The location is a love or hate thing. Very touristy (Chinese and otherwise), busy until quite late at night. Always had to push through people to get back to the hostel. 10 min walk from subway, 45 from Tiananmen.

Great value for our money. Enjoyed the trip to the great wall. The only issue is with the alleyway being not only narrow, but also crowded with shoppers & vendors, it really is not.conducive to a cab or auto. We felt like we should walk from the closest main street intersection which is 2-3 blocks.

As a tourist it was a fun location. Lots of activity outside. So much though, it makes it difficult to get a cab to the door. Not too far of walk to the main street & then to subway station. Breakfast is included next door.Allow sufficient time for a meal. We stayed in 3 different rooms. All were fine, although our 2 nd one, on the 2nd floor was in the back and had a private porch that was very nice. The rental towels are sufficiently large. The WiFi worked fine in our rooms. Would go back.

There was no nice place to sit and cuddle in the lobby, just a room in the basement. The staff were correct but not pleasant and nice. They took 50 yuan to just book a taxi to the airport. Other Youth Hostel calling taxis as a service.

Owner Comment (Hide)
Thank you for your comments. We will try to make our condition and service better. Your advice and comments are always very important to us. About the transfer to the airport, the price is 150 yuan when you ask them to come into the alley waiting for you. Normally the drivers don't want to drive inside into the narrow alleys. And the price might be around 100 yuan if you wave a taxi from the street. But in that case you would have to walk to the main street. Hope you could understand.

This hostel is located in the middle of the hutongs of Beijing and although the street is very busy all day by tourists, the rooms were quiet. A lot of main sightseeing spots are close to reach (Forbidden City, Drum and Bell Tower) and the rest can be reached by metro and bus easily. Included breakfast in the cafe next door is absolutely okay! The rooms were clean and getting train tickets arranged by the staff worked very well. Recommendable!

Nice and friendly staff and clean hostel. Location is great, if you like walking everything is reachable. The Walking Tour on the great wall is recommendable.

Great stay! The staff were very friendly!!

Location is in a very touristy area, nice because of all the shops, but very busy, noisy, and expensive. In the hostel I missed a common kitchen to prepare your own food, and/or meet other travelers. They offer trips (and airport transportation) which is nice, but all very overprized.

Though we only stayed there for a night, we liked it immediately on arrival: it's got a really cool vibe, which is probably to do with all the graffiti on the walls and testimonials from previous guests - I'd definitely stay there again. Really clean, absolutely fantastic location (and easy to find) - no complaints whatsoever!

Very much liked the location and the helpful staff. They organized a special arrangement so I could go on their trip to the Great Wall, which was amazing. The room was perfectly fine and clean. Will definitely come back next year.
