I loved the location and the old style courtyard of this hostel. However, that also made it exceptionally cold, mostly due to the time of year, and all the heaters were set very low, meaning it was hard to get warm anywhere. Also there were not really many westerners in the hostel, so it felt a little exclusive. Leo Hostel, just around the corner, is a sister to the courtyard and had a great bar with a friendly atmosphere, so you could stay at the courtyard for price but meet new friends at Leo!
Stayed here for few days while in Beijing. The hostel itself is in a very interesting area among the small alleyways. Very close to the subway station and sights. The staff was friendly and willing to help, although some of them tried too hard to sell their own services and tour packages which was a bit annoying. The food in the hostel was good, rooms were clean and equipped with an own personal locker. Definitely worth the money.
Good hostel. The inside is beautiful and looks like an old Chinese hotel. The shower inside the bathroom in the dorm could use a curtain to help keep the toilet dry. Also, I had trouble getting wifi inside my room, but I could get it in the common area.
In this area are way better hostel than this one. Wouldn't stay again but all in all stay was average.
I rent a four bed bedroom with some friends, it was clean and with good AC but the bathroom had this strong smell, not actually a big deal because we were out all day long, the location is a little bit far of the main road but is not that bad and at the end the staff confuce one of my friend with another person and didnt gave to her the deposit. In overall is a good place, is really secure, the staff is 24/7 to help you and it has a good bar to hang out.

Good hostel, ideally located near Tian'anmen Square. Nice and helpful staff but the hygiene was not that great. Cheap price though! Beware, the dorm rooms are not mixed as told on the website!
First we were moved room because there was only 1 bed, then we were given 2 padlocks to use on the lockers, but 1 locker was broken, the other already had a lock on. The toilet was down a flight of stairs and at the end of the corridor, and the floor was often covered in water, making the tiles really slippery, the showers were another 100m walk away. Saw a few roaches on a night, showers were missing heads, washing takes 2 days, the list goes on. The bar was the best bit, bar staff lovely.
Everyone was so nice there, right in the middle of Beijing!
I loved the Leo Courtyard. However, this is not a place for the faint of heart but for those who live with a keen spirit of adventure. All of the staff are very young...guessing early to mid 20's. But what they lack in experience, they more than make up for it with their enthusiasm. There are an ample number of English speaking staff personnel so we always had someone to go to with different needs. Very popular with the younger European backpackers. But a great time for fun loving Seniors.
Second time here!Staff here were helpful and friendly. Each bed offer socket which is very convenient, and they provide plug for rent.Tinny bar in the hostel is also great!
This is worse hostel than I think. Points are - Speed of checking in process is very slow due to the internet connection issue but still there is no good enough back up plan - The Bathroom is connecting each other which the water can run pass through second and third room so there is no standard of cleanliness at all - The toilet for male has only one room which the toilet was not be able to flush from previous user so I have to walk away from hostel to use the public one instead
Room door didnt close properly, but you had lockers and locks provided for your valuables. There was only one male toilet, which was surprisingly very clean. Showers are good.
Directions should be updated. It is also helpful to print the address in Chinese characters on it. The map of the environment needs to be updated. The rooms are very dirty as well as the public showers. We had in our rooms a grasshopper problem but the staff were very helpful and gave us a new room. The laundry service is also good. The excursion to the Great Wall was poorly organized relating to the indication of the true cost. The 256 yuan for the bus ride and the food (not included drinks).
