My stay in leo's courtyard was a remarkable and pleasant experience. The location was perfect, close to attractions, bars and to the hustle and bustle, that beijing has to offer. Clean dorms and bathrooms, bar and restaurant area, and a large selection of films to choose from, which can be watched on the hostels huge television in the lounge area. A definate must stay hostel for any traveller visiting beijing.

The hostel is in a brilliant location, the staff that showed me around were lovely but the bar staff a little rude. It was alright for a few nights but the beds are solid, although the sheets look very clean the hostel itself is pretty filthy.

We have been travelling in China for 3weeks and also stayed in hostels around Asia. So we are used to roughing it! However this hostel was the WORST place we have ever been to. There was no pick up arranged so we jumped in a cab late at night. We arrived into an empty hostel and greeted by a member of staff who spoke barely any English. We were not given a room key and put in a room with no locks. It smelt of sewage. The general feeling was it felt very unsafe and dirty. DONT STAY HERE!

stayed there for a few days, booked a double and a dorm. all i have to say about the beds is that you get wht you pay for: double bed confy, pretty wide, but talking about the dorm bed, I never had such a thin matress ever! was kinda sleep on a wood board actually... but cheap as. Staff really friendly even if sometime not really understanding, talking a average English; helpful, knows well how ot get around, which is pretty easy with the subway station 10minutes away from the hostel.

There's some issues with cleanliness in the rooms and the reception area, as it's was quite stinky. Our repeated request to change the light bulb in bathroom fell on deaf ears. Character and the location is good though. Room was not as good as the character.

The building itself has good olden style Chinese character, but it was very unorganised and very dirty. Limited bathrooms and the makeshift dorm we were placed into didnt have a locking door, with public access. Not recommended.

I had some difficulty when communicating with the staff for checking in and checking out. Other than this the hostel was very nice like a hotel.

Good points include the friendly staff (albeit no English...) and the common areas. The WIFI didnt work while we were there, shower floods, and the beds are razor thin. I would stay again though. Whatever you do, do not do the Secret Wall Tour...you can do it for 260 RMB and be taken to shops and spend only 1 hr on the Wall, or you can take the public bus for 12 RMB and spend as long as you want there :)

Tucked away hard to reach by taxi and long walk from station, but once you're without your luggage, it's a good location with lots of cheap eats around. We booked 4 nights but only stayed 1 as we found a bargain on lastminute.com. Reason we looked for other accom was b/coz thebathroom stank, and there was only hot water in the mornings. Also, the internal courtyard, while beautiful, meant our grand floor room had no privacy. Given the price, it's good value. Yum breakfast at restaurant.

when i arrived the room was not clean, clearly somebody had slept there the night before. i was told to wait until the next day to have my room clean, because sunday was the day-off for the maid. honestly, this is what i was told. lucky i found the cleaning closet open and was able to change the bedspread myself. the walls are very thin. if you are next door to a loud couple expect to be part of their conversation. on the bright side the location is excellent. enjoy the "clean" air of beijing

All Leo's Hostels in Beijing are excellent and well run with staff who are very helpful. Location in the hutongs is just what we like and so convenient to the metro and major attractions. We organized our own trip to see the wall at Shanhaiguan and recommend using public transport instead of unnecessary tours.

The hostel is located in place like hutong with 1-2-stage old buildings and narrow streets. Night staff doesn't speak English at all. Hot water is a problem: you need to open the tap and wait for several minutes to let water warm up, futhermore water pressure is very weak. On the third day two ceramic tiles in our private bathroom fell to the floor and broken so we were moved to another room. Wi-Fi works good, better than in another much expensive hostel. There is a kettle and cups in the room.

We are a group of spanish people who stayed in leo's courtyard and we must highly recommend this place to all of those who are looking for a perfect spot and nice staff to make their trip to beijin even better. It also has a lovely bar where you can enjoy cheap drinks with other travelers. Definetely a great option for this price!!!!

Out of 8, it was the worst experience of hostels I had in China. The room was smelling like a public toilet and I never got completely rid of the smell that was coming back every time I used the water. It also smelled like old cat pee in the common rooms. The sheets weren't clean and had holes, the floor stayed dusty for 6 days. Also the wall facing the corridor was made of blurry glass, with only a curtain which didn't cover the width, giving minimum privacy for a two-bed single room.

I only stayed at Leo's for 1 night, and didn't arrive until 3AM, so my experience here is pretty limited to that. It looked like it would be a lot of fun to hang around the hostel when you are wearing from travels as the grounds are big, with a few different areas to hang out and rest up aside from your room. Staff was kind enough in my time there, and English good enough as well. My single room was also clean fairly clean, and no sign of any bedbugs that some people have commented on.

our first room was a bit noisy but pretty good the second room ws teribble. It smelled like cat pee (a lot) so much that i didnt wanna put my bags on the floor beofre chcking it was wet or not. Besides this, we also arrived at the reception and they wanted to charge us the double amount (Because my reserevaion was done a couple of weeks ago and the decided to rise the prices with 200%). Took me 1,5hr and a lot of angry discussions to get a privateroom but i wanted (and reservation) a dorm.!

I stayed at the Leo Courtyard for 9 nights and it was all I could ask for for such a low price. The lobby and courtyard area is really unique, the staff were always friendly and most of them had fairly good english. The restaurant was really nice, good food for good prices. They have a lot of activities - movies, playstation, books, board games.... They also have a good selection of tours although I did not join any of them. Room was small but did it\'s purpose for the price paid!
