I've already been in this hostel, but it was in October. In winter it is very cold in rooms! There is no central heating in this building. There was electric heater in our room, but it couldn't help. We needed to sleep in all clothes, that we had... It isn't comfortable at all. But location of the hostel is rather good. Cleanliness in all chinese hostels isn't sufficient..

Great place but too many places name Leo Hostel so it was a bit confusing to know the Bar from the Restaurant from the actual Hostel.

Great overall stay. The shower was lacking (low pressure, forever to get hot) and the heat was poor (pretty cold, even on high), and the staff often couldn't be bothered to work (signs posting that they can get us tickets, which they wouldn't do, and it was a pain to get them to do laundry, despite the signs saying they do it!). But all that said, reasonable if not great price, comfy bed, big room, semi-decent wifi, good cleaning staff, and friendly enough desk staff. Also, GREAT location. :)

I arrived at the hostel super late. The front desk attendant didn't have my reservation & I was becoming increasingly irritated. Of course we figured out that I had booked a bed for the wrong night :) They were so friendly & let me stay that night instead. I really appreciated that after a long flight. The courtyard is phenomenal! So much character. My only complaint is that my double bed room was really smelly. Kinda like they had a problem with plumbing.

The good: The place has charm, location in a hutong is prime for experiencing old Beijing. The bad: Rooms were extremely cold, after one whole night of using the heat, our room reached 55 degrees F. We were able to switch to another room for the rest of our stay, and that room finally warmed up after 2 days. The shower drain had some issues...we were worried the flooding would reach the rest of the room. Tip: don't forget your key. We did one day and couldn't get in until the next morning!

The staff is very nice and very helpful, they helped me buy all my train tickets, gave me all the needed information to get around the city ; the service is excellent ! The hostel is very well located, only 10 min from the forbidden city, easy to find ; the premises are clean, the atmosphere is nice, I recommend it !

Unfortunately some of the staff was very "Chinese" - meaning no good English and no clear information. But others were very nice and helpful in organizing trips (to Great Wall for example - was really worth the money!). I missed a common room (except for the bar) where you can bring your own food / drinks...
