Good hostel, about 10-15minutes walk to city centre (Princes Street). Staff friendly and helpful, room and facilities clean. Stayed in a 6 bed dorm, had lockers which was great. It was a very small room though, too small for this amount of people. Noise absorption very bad – could hear people in the next rooms and the doors were extremely loud. Had a good stay though, it’s quite a special hostel in a church, nicely decorated.

It was nice that they have rights to sell alcohol. Once shower was cold, but it's not the end of the world. Nothing bad to say overall.

Not a bad hostel if you're trying to save money. It was a bit of a walk to Princes St, about 15-20 minutes. This hostel feels like it is way past its hay day... The atmosphere was dull and you could hear a pin drop in the common room. Staff were very friendly though and there we great lockers to store valuables in which was convenient.

I had a good stay at Belford Hostel -- the staff was friendly and the facilities were great. The atmosphere was a bit lacking (everyone sitting on their laptops in the common area in the evening) but that could have just been the people who were there at the time. Also, it is a bit of a walk to the centre, but nothing terrible.

Belford Hostel has the unique feature of being a former church, which gives it a unique atmosphere. Excellent security, location is not super central but only 15 mins to city centre. Prices are slightly high, but this is probably because we travelled during the Fringe Festival. Breakfast is 1 pound only and I advice to take advantage of it. On the other hand they charge you for luggage storage, which is something that really bothers. Overall a good hostel to stay at, but not excellent.

Functional, practical, good location. Cool that it's in an old church, though it is admittedly drafty, especially in the bathrooms. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Thank you!

Had a lovely stay here thanks mostly to the wonderful hospitality of the hosts. Would definitely go back again.

Nice enough place but the way the rooms were placed in the church you get terrible air flow and it never gets dark. Could be closer to city center. But other clean, safe, secure.

We had the twin private room, it has been improved since I last used it. it now has a TV and we had slippers and towels provided, the kettle and tea coffee etc was standard. The female bathroom is much improved, all the mirrors had lights which made it most excellent for putting on make-up. The staff were lovely, the hostel only gets better each time I stay (4th visit)

Someone had left a rolled up sanitary pad on the top of my metal locker. But the bathrooms were nice and clean.

The location is a bit far out so that's not ideal, but the facilities are clean and the staff had good recommendations. It wasn't anything fancy, but the beds were comfortable enough and the bathrooms were clean. There's lockers for you to put your stuff in. The beds didn't each have their own outlet. There's 24 hour reception.

It is far away from the center, but the hostel is worth it. The staff were awesome and the converted church was super cool. Good kitchen too. Only complaint is the loudness of the doors shutting, they should look into muffling the noise somehow because it echoes really badly.

Stayed here initially for one night but Ended staying two. I was upgraded from an 8 bed dorm to a 4 bed and the lovely girl behind the counter gave me a bottom bunk bed because she remembered me saying that's what I prefer. The common area is large with plenty of seating and wall plugs. The rooms are small but nice, and the beds were real comfy. The hostel is about a 20 minute walk to the heart of the city, but there are plenty of cafes and even a Gelateria on the way. Overall great hostel.

I really appreciated the showers, easy to use and perfect temperature. The dormitory was of a good size but needed to be aired (with a different system than just a ceiling window) In the dorm please put a note about respect of the others. Also a different type of light or two types: a bright and a low ones woud be perfect;

Very nice place! only 15-10 mins walking from the city center! The building is an ex church and this give the hostel a cool atmosphere between the old and the new! the walls are painted with very original images and the personnel is very nice! There is a pub inside with a billiard , so that if you don t feel like going out you can always meet people inside! The kitchen is big enough :)

Showers and toilets were ok but a little far away. Rooms not too bad but get hot and stuffy. Lot of noise from doors banging due to partition walls and type of locks used (Yale locks).

Really helpful and friendly staff (especially the Australian guy....didn't catch his name, sorry!) with a great location (central but also in a quiet area) and the general atmosphere was relaxed and friendly.
