The staff on the front desk were at best uninterested and worst downright rude.

This hostel is just the basics: you should pay basic price for it and no more! There are a very limited number of toilets so you will find yourself waiting, and the showers have only one setting: SCALDING until the hot water runs out.

to less toiletts, not very clean, to loud, you will hear every door that slams, rooms are smelling a little bit musty, to expensive! BUT very close to the city center (prince street or the castle)

It was very nice but very expensive. I think I paid the price of a hotel for a hostel... It's a pity! Otherwise, a very good place to stay!

It was dirty. The beds were slept in, the showers were very dirty, a lot of noise.

The hostel is not that close from the city centre but close enough from the train station of Haymarket. Sheets are clean but the rooms are quite noisy and the bathroom is not convenient at all. Staff is very friendly.

This hostel was dirty, smelled badly and was really the worst hostel I have ever stayed in.

This place was a 'good enough' hostel. The extremely positive and negative views are probably not reflective of the hostel.

Problems were hot water was sometimes a bit too hot, toilets were not always clean and ran out of toilet paper (hostel was very busy and staff did rectify), room was small (not alot of space to manage everyone in rooms luggage), and noise travelled easily so if anyone came in late or left early and is inconsiderate (which was expected during the festival) then everyone is disturbed. Staff were fabulous and only too willing to help. Lockers meant safety wasn't an issue. Location was convenient.

belford hostel has a great atmosphere especially because of the location. i really enjoyed staying there. it was fun to cook there and we always had a chat with the staff members who could help us getting around Edinburgh. but there are few toilets, the showers and all sanitary facilites might be a bit cleaner. the beds are allright, though there's not too much air in the rooms. all in all, it's worth the money.

Lovely stay , and beautifully converted church. Only two complaints the beds are a little squeaky so wake everyone in the room when you shuffle. And my 6 bed mixed dorm consisted of me and 5 five men

Very noisy and extremely small rooms. Not enough bathrooms. Would not recommend this hostel to anyone.

Nice staff. Beds were not very good. There were only one shower for private rooms so there were queues. It takes about 20 minutes to walk there from the railway station.

More powerpoints in the room would have been nice (2 for a 6-bed dorm; not really enough with a full room), and more privacy in the girls showers would also have been appreciated. The beds were uncomfortable. Having individual lights at each bed would have been awesome, instead of feeling bad for keeping the light on while reading. Paying 25-30 pounds a night for that place is ridiculous.

Lockers could be opened with other person's keys. Felt like we were in a concentration camp set up with how the rooms were set up inside the church.
