The first thing Gecko (the owner) tells you when you arrive is "This will be your home now!" And thats just what it felt like! We booked three nights but left two weeks later because you cant do anything but love the place. Five meters from the beautiful beach in a really friendly village. The thing about Bells is that nothing is pushed upon you, except that every time it arrives new guests the owner introduces you to each other, a rather nice exception if you ask me! Thank you Gecko!

Not much to report although the hostel did play really loud music all day which wouldnt have been a problem if we werein the dorm its just that we were outside in the private room and was quite loud there. You can ask the owner to turn it down and he is only to happy to oblige. Otherwise had a great stay there the owner is a real character and the hostel has an unbeatable location.

I had an amazing stay at Bells Hostel. The owner, Gueko Moraes is one of those people in your travels that you will never forget. His positive vibe and genuine care for his guests is not to be surpassed. The hostel is awesomely located, you can almost jump in the water from the lounge area. My fellow travelers staying there were exactly the types of travelers you hope to meet. There's a cheap "por kilo" restaurant and a cool bar called Elvis Bar around the corner. Gueko, you're the best!!!

I`ve stayed in many Hostels in South and North America, and Bell`s is by far the best hostel I`ve ever stayed at. It`s a hostel but it can be also considered a "pousada". The staff is very helpful and willing to help, the atmosphere and vibe is very friendly, very chilled, it`s almost like only good vibe is allowed and the location could not be better, practically inside the ocean with an stunning view! It`s one to try.

The place is definitely in a great location but the place needs a proper, regular cleaning!!!

The hostel owner Ghekko was very welcoming, full tour of the Village and local facilities on arrival, you really feel part of the community here. We (me and my girlfriend) had a good double room looking onto beach. initially opted for a twin single room to save money, however there was a big difference in standards, if you're a couple get a double. The bathrooms could be cleaner but they're on par with Brazilian standards. Fantastic host, made Caipirinha's on the house for us, I Reccomend.

The staff are happy and friendly, and they try and make everyone feel at home by doing a big introduction. There are no locks on the doors nor on the gate, and no lockers provided to store valuables. The hostel relies on the police which is just outside and the big family atmosphere of the guests. They tell you this when u arrive. This is fine in an ideal world, however we do not live in an ideal world. Also, they don't have single rooms, contrary to what *was* on hostelworld.com when I booked

We had a fabulous time at Bell's & would highly recommend it! Gueko & his staff were only too willing to impart their wealth of local knowledge & included us in many activities, despite our inability to speak Portuguese. As other guests mentioned there are no locks on the doors and gate, however we always felt our belongings were safe. Located on the south of the island, this hostel IS quite far from the famed clubs of Jurere Internacional though we were easily able to reach other areas by bus!

I was travelling by myself and as soon as I opened the door of the hostel I've been invited to join a typical friendly and barbecue with all the guests! , since this moment i was a part of the troup so I had to extend my stay for 5 more nights! Guekko is an awesome host and human being and he and everybody made amazing effort to comunicate with me (did not speak portuguese )! the beach is great and as the transportation on the island is not very fast and easy, matadeiros remains my favourite!
