Bethel Court guest house is a great place to stay when flying in to Montego Bay. A few days of getting used to the Jamaican culture and then off for the Island tour. Stevie is great host and treats the guest very well. I strongly recommend using bethel court guesthouse as a start point to your island tour and the discovery of jamaican culture. This is not a resort place, it is located a few minutes from the local downtown and the neighborhood is not touristy, wich adds to the charm of the place.

I really felt safe and comfortable in this hostel. Many people told me that it is too dangerouse to travel alone in Jamaica, especially for a woman, but I was never scared or had a scary experience. Steve and Richard were friendly and helpful! Thank you for the nice stay!

The place is a very long way to get to the hip strip or beach, youll need to use taxi services to get both places which the hostel taxi drivers can do at any hour...but for a price. They also run tours but they are really only worth it if you can get 7 or 8 people interested, otherwise extremely expensive. I think i was lucky and had a good group of travellers staying when i was here so able to mingle and plan as a group but if alone, could be a bit boring and very expensive!!

Taxi driver service=15 usd from airport, which is kinda expensive, since it cost us 20$ from Negril (75min from airport vs about 20 in Mobay). We had to share a locker together, which was not a problem, but it got broken, as if somebody tried to cut the locker. Nice kitchen, great place to hang out, met a lot of people, however it is far from everything, so we always depend on a taxi to get around, which the hostel has their driver. One of them put a lot of pressure to me to go to his daytour...

Bad Things: DR CAVE BEACH AND CONRWALL BEACH ARE THE SAME. DON'T PAY TO GO TO BOTH ON DIFFERENT DAYS. THE TOUR THAT MCKENZIE (THE DRIVER) OFFERS IS NOT WORHT IT, BECAUSE OFFERS A PRICE OF $35 AND IT ENDS UP BEING AROUND $100 WITH THE ENTRANCE IN THE DIFFERENT PLACES. (AVOID THE BOB MARLEY MUSUEM NOT WORHT IT AT ALL!!! $20 PER PERSON). MCKENZIE IS DISRESPECTFUL WITH THE CLIENT IN TERMS OF TIME AND PRICE Good Things: GO TO SOUTH SEAS RESORT HOTEL, AND GO TO THE BEACH PARTY IN CORNWALL BEACH.

Bethel Court is a great place to stay if you're on a tight budget. The rooms are very clean and wellkept, and the staff are helpful and congenial. You get nothing to eat there, thoush you can get meals (or provisions and cook youself) at dirt cheap prices. Another feather in their cap is the location; it's just a short (and cheap) route taxi drive from the guesthouse to downtown Montego Bay, or walk down Mt. Salem Road and see how the real Jamaicans live.

My friend and I decided to book Bethel based on previous reviews, but I now suspect that those reviews were coerced. There is NO REASON FOR ANYONE TO STAY HERE. It's insanely far from everything, the rooms are bordering on disgusting, and the service is dirt poor. It's actually not even affordable once you add in the taxi costs to get anywhere. No breakfast, no blankets in the room (!!), no water pressure to flush toilets, and they messed up our reservation twice. STEER CLEAR!

I had a great time in the hostel. The staff was great and informative and very hospitable. I recommend this hostel to anyone. It has a full kitchen with everything you need, cable TV and A/C in the rooms and fans. It was great. I enjoyed my stay very much and very comfortably.

Best place to stay in Montego bay! Met lots of locals and made real friends. Steve kept my suitcase there while I backpacked through the country. It was nice to not have to lug my winter coat through Jamaica. Bethel court was one of the only places I felt a really warm welcome from everyone, and was able to relax and not be bothered by salesman. Steve got a new coffee maker and bought some blue mountain coffee which was complimentry. to guests. Great place to make friends.

I really enjoyed my stay. It was really easy to meet other travellers and do something together. The tours are connected with the big hotels though and a similar activity can be done with other people from the guesthouse, I was unfortunately shortchanged by the Tropical Tours as well. Thanks Steve for your welcome and wish you all the best.

Great place to stay, nice big rooms, more like apartments. the place has internet, and the staff will take you everywhere, montego bay is safe and not dangerous. you have the option of taking the public taxi cabs, that run non stop on the road for just 1 dollar, or hiring a driver for 4 dollars, both ways, 1 trip, plus the guesthouse has their own trusted cab drivers, and or personal drivers for their guests. the hostel offers trips to negril or ochos rios, etc. great place, great ppl, and value

A bit out of the way, but still only a 25 min stroll to downtown or 5 mins in a cheap cab. Hostel is well kept though and very secure. Good value for money and Steve is very helpful with anything you require.

Steve and his wife are truely amazing. They ordered pizza for us, even sent someone to pick it up. They gave us beach towels, arranged for bus station pick up, and transportation to downtown.

Bethel Court is a hostel that sorta looks like an apartment complex. If you're interested in staying in a non-tourist real Jamaican slightly scary area, stay here. If you're interested in the beach, it's a little farther away than we would have liked. Steve and his crew of taxi drivers were helpful in arranging tours and taxis in and out of town, though it does get pricey. If you need to get around, ask for Mckenzie. He was really nice and introduced us to some fun Jamaican food.
