The staff was really nice, the location was nice and set back from the street, it is next to a restaurant that's cheap and good, and the bar was fun. It also has AC and they give you towels which is nice. The lockers are also massive and new.
Good location. About 10 min walk from ferry terminal. Located with a great restaurant with food by the kilogram. Hostel bar was busy until around 11pm and then the music stops so if you want an early nights rest not the place. Breakfast was decent. Very helpful staff.
This is a wonderful hostel on a wonderful island. The food in the restaurant is great!!!! I would come back here again. The girl's dorm had air conditioning and was cleaned everyday!!! Staff spoke good English. :)
Helpfull staff, nice atmosphere, people from all over, good breakfast, nice bar...
I stayed in a 3 bed dorm and it was a very nice room with 3 single beds - no bunks. The kitchen area was nice too. There's a per kilo buffet restaurant and bar downstairs which is convenient. I found that it wasn't a very social place - the rooms are fairly separate and people generally kept to themselves. Maybe the hostel could organise some social activities to bring people together a bit more? I don't recommend the 'door to door' transfer back to Rio that they sell - not worth the money.
There were ants in the toilet, no hot water so we had to have freezing old showers and the breakfast staff were quite unfriendly.

The staff was very nice and helpfull and the surroundings were beautiful, clean, calm and cosy. The room was nice and got cleaned every day
I loved the room, the big lockers, the two showers in the bathroom (so there could be more than one girl inside)... The breakfast was good and diverse (bread rolls, cheese, ham, eggs, cake, etc.), the location perfect (in the middle of the town). However, the prices in January were crazy steep, and not worth it.
Ripped sheets on bed Noisy common area, people drinking despite no drinking policy Small private room Buns not emptied regularly enough in toilets
I had a great time here. As a solo traveller it really helped that the hostel had it's own bar. There's also a fantastic little restaurant connected. It's clean, safe and secure. The breakfasts are great. All of the staff are friendly and so helpful when recommending things - I chose to do a lot of hiking and they were always able to direct me to the starts of the trails. I met some really lovely people here, there's a nice atmosphere in the hostel. Would definitely recommend it!! Thank you!

Great hostel with a cheap bar and a good breakfast, basically all you want, air conditioned clean rooms and a good bar downstairs to chill and relax, if you are going to ilha grande, stay here!
Good hostel on Ilha grande located in the city center, 2 streets away from the main bars and the beach. Power cut for few days when i was there so no wifi at all. The food served at the restaurant is just incredible and the free breakfast decent and with few options. Very helpful and lovely staff too!
Really clean hostel!! Sockets at beds and night lamp! Very very friendly and helpful staff! Food is yummy and cheap!
Highly recommended! I liked both the 4 person dorm and 6 ladies dorm. They both had ensuites and the 4 person one has a mini fridge which I found quite useful. The hostel's in a good location, right in the middle of everything. Great vibe, good people. Worth a stay!
Excellent place to stay, clean, nice, helpfull staff, the best.
I'm really glad I managed to stay at Biergarten!Staff is engaging and worth pure gold!Great reastaurant, nice breakfast, nice location.@Travelers:Most tours of the island begin early in the morning.Getting from Rio takes 4-6 hours depending on the traffic,so you won't have any tour the first day.If you have time the best option is to stay three full days.First day arrive, second day full tour, thrid day hiking.I highly recommend you to take the minivan-boat transfers from Rio and back!
Good atmosphere, clean, excellent location and helpful staff. The room by the reception was great.
I really did not enjoy Ilha Grande and thought it was way overhyped, extremely overpriced, and not friendly at all. The hostel was a pleasant place to be, and the staff is great here. I would skip Ilha grande entirely and just go to Paraty instead. However, if you come here and cannot find space at the hostels directly on the water this is a good option because of the superb staff. Very clean and nice cats. Socialized more with staff than travelers, lots of groups that only talk to each other.
Great hostel in the middle of the town. It has a sociable bar, so if you like to sleep before midnight maybe not the one for you. Really impressed with the cleaning staff. The hostel is extremely clean, bed made each day. Towels provided. Great hostel, would recommend.
The staff were amazing, and knew about everything on the island that you should get involved in. The location was great, everything was within a 10 minute walk... Would recommend!
