My thoughts on this hostel are mixed; on the one hand I had no problems with my stay, but on the other there were some things that remained a constant worry to me. Big Choi's guesthouse doesn't have locks. Anywhere (except the bathrooms, obviously). Korea is a safe country, but not even having a lock on the front door for night time was worrying for me. The rooms are clean enough, although the bathrooms were a bit of a state, and I still don't know who the staff were, as they were rarely seen.

Very comfortable stay in the heart of Hongdae, the greatest place for cafes, good food and nightlife! The staff is very friendly and helpful! The location is unbeatable! It's less than 10 mins away from the heart of Hongdae. I'll make sure to stay there again this summer!

Mr. Choi's Guesthouse is always the best stay! He's always available to help and the atmosphere of the hostel is amazing. Everyone feels "at home." If you haven't stayed, you should. Even if you're just planning a night out in Hongdae. It saves having to pay for a taxi at the end of the night...and in fact, saves you money!

I have stayed here three years ago and I quite liked it. This time, however, we slept in a double room in the basement and there it was smelly and the bathroom is really ugly. Upstairs it is ok, though.

I could not have had a better time staying at Big Choi's. I really felt like part of the family the moment I stepped in the door. The staff are incredible, Gaston I love you! I actually fell ill with a nasty cold when I was there and the staff did everything in their power to help me feel better :). Minutes walk from the hopping student night life area and super close to the subway which connects all around Seoul. Please stay here, you won't regret it. Thanks Big Choi's

There were only two bathrooms for such a large space, and they were both pretty gross. There were also several men just sleeping in the halls. The staff members were kind though, and the location is decent.

The hostel is well located in the Hongdae area, and easy to find. There are shops nearby and plenty of cafes/restaurants. Subway is a 5 minute walk away. The hostel has a homely feel, and good spaces allocated for socialising. Kitchen has everything you need. The staff are extremely friendly, we got there late at 1am and they let us stay there without checking in/paying for our booking until the morning. Only downside was the bathrooms. There are only two for the whole house, so expect a wait!

This hostel has a real "Family" feeling to it. Whether you are meeting new or old friends everyone is up for a good time. The staff are super friendly and always very helpful if you are having problems. I definitely think that Big Choi's is a great stop in a trip to South Korea

The rooms are pretty minimal and even though there aren't many showers/toilets, it wasn't a problem. Had a great time here; BIg Choi is so helpful and kind...he cooked us kimchi pancakes for New Years Eve. Staying here is like a home away from home; will definitely be back :)
