The facilities were okay, but a bit shabby.. The location was fantastic. The internet connection was good in the early mornings, but not during the day or evening. Staff was very helpful.

Nice and central. Free tea and coffee! And free Internet. Good beds. Very friendly and social place. Lotsa people working, but also some backpackers. Generally people like to stay in and watch films, get take away and just drink tea while playing cards. Very homey feel .

We were only in the hostel to sleep. The main area seemed very busy but good for visiting with couches and tables/chairs. The halls felt like hotels, kept up very good. I like the national/local art that was hung - made it more comfortable of setting.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, didn't really spend much time at the hostel but it was perfect to shower and rest. We were in room 205 (I think) room directly opposite the elevator and only fault with room was the bathroom light which constantly flickered.

Nice rooms, noisy hostel. The location is good, very close to transport hubs and interesting neighborhouds. Very convenient steak restaurant deals nearby.

Good location. Free wifi. Room was good with a tv and air con. It was cheaper than a lot of the other places we'd looked at.

This hostel was nice but not outstanding. Location is good, free breakfast a plus and free wifi ok (works only downstairs and hard to log in during peak hours). Staff was nice and helpful. As others said it's hard to get to know other people, everyone is just using the internet downstairs. Only three toilets and three showers, all in the same room, on our floor (plus they were somewhat dirty). Very large lockers in the room.

Great location. Very near to Central Railway Station. It is near to China Town. There are some restaurants, pizza shops and a bar nearby. The staffs are friendly and amiable. We asked for directions to a few places and they are very helpful with that. They also help us booked a shuttle bus to airport. It would be more comfortable if the pillows are thicker but we have no issue as is. Overall, very pleasant stay with helpful staffs in an excellent location.

All good, clean, friendly staff, excellent location! And the best: free internet! Loved this place. You just have to mention them if the internet doesn't work and they will reroute it. Worked then every time.

Location is excellent, just a few minutes walk from the railway station. Staff at reception are super kind, friendly and very informative. On the other hand I felt like anyone may enter the hostel. WiFi is free, luggage storage as well. I stayed at 8-bed dorm, there were big lockers to keep your backpack. Both the room and bathroom were a bit messy but thats probably because of people who use them.

Hi Christin, we are bus agents for all companies so Firefly, premier and Greyhound buses- some have specials and rates can change day to day just like flights-as we are Agents we can only offer the same rates as the companies direct,i hope that clarifies.. most staff are crew of up to 10 years -very friendly, very efficient, very used to 100 questions every shift-never a problem.. unfortunately internet has taken over the world and we too are surprised that 50 persons on site have a laptop and smartphone and socialising is now a number 2 activity.. i too would prefer the guitar comes out and good old fashioned socialising was number 1-but the world is moving opposite ways- regards Hellen (manager of 10 years)

Great Hostel to stay in when in Sydney! 5 minute walk from the central Station and 10 minute walk tops to the CBD, Pitt Street, Queen Victoria Building etc. much better location than all the hostels around King's Cross. Also the circle line (i think it's the 555 bus) stops nearby the hostel and after that at several stations in the city centre. Decent breakfast, nice big rooms, free wifi.. would definitely go there again!

Big Hostel was pretty nice overall. My favorite thing was the location. It was very convenient to get to the hostel from the airport. They also provided a map of the city and were helpful in explaining how to get to the sights. The staff was friendly and helpful. My only complaint was the hostels wifi. I could hardly ever access it because there were always tons of guests in the common area logged on. Bathrooms were fairly clean and the kitchen area was pretty nice. Good value for the price.

Internet only works downstairs. Not easy to connect between 7-9pm. Any other time it is great. The kitchen gets busy during evening time but if you choose your own time there is plenty of space for cooking. Fridge is huge and there is a good labelling system of who the stuff belongs to. In general the hostel is very well organised. No partying in the hostel or shouting during the night. No bedbugs either! They give bedsheets for free but you need a padlock for the locker.

Spend four nights at the Big Hostel and would recommend it. The four-bed rooms were especially nice with private baths. The six-beds weren't quite as plush and the shared bathrooms were a little crowded and dirty, but still not too bad. Guests seemed addicted to their laptops and phones and would linger inside the lobby all day. Nice rooftop deck but few people would venture up to be social. if you came to Sydney to stay inside and update facebook, this place is for you.
