Cool place, but it was quite far from the more interesting parts of town. Also, did not like the shared bathroom. The staff were exceptional, they were very welcoming and helpful and I liked the fact that you could buy drinks in the main room. Overall experience was pretty good.

About 20 minutes (miniumum) from the old town but worth it, mainly because of the staff.

I was in a dorm near the common room so it was quite noisy especially in the morning when breakfast was on. I was cold in the hostel, but you can ask staff to turn the heating on. It is a bit far away from the old part (casco viejo) but it is close to the bus station and not too far from the Guggenheim. The staff are very friendly and helpful. A cute place all in all.

The hostel was great. The staff was extremely helpful and nice. Sheets and bathroom were very clean. Only complaint is that the hostel was extremely cold at night. Impossible to sleep.

Owner Comment (Show)
Thanks for your reply Gabriella. We want to say you sorry because the night you slept in our hostel we had a little problems with the heating and it wasn't work really ok. The day after it had been repaired. :) Kind regards. Akelarre Staff.

The staffs were sooo friendly and helpful! The room was clean and comfy. A bit too far from the center but it was a really great hostel with good price :)

Great place! The whole services and everything are definitely worth the money. And I specially loved the amount of information they provide related to sites and culture in Bilbao. Is a hostel commited to the local culture, priceless!

Nice, clean and quiet place to spend the night, the complimentary breakfast til 11 and free internet were a big plus. The only drawback really is that it's a bit far from anything of interest, but at least it has a metro stop relatively nearby. Staff were very friendly!

I only stayed one night, but I was impressed by the attitude of the staff, all very friendly and outgoing. The breakfast was pretty good and free coffee and tea all day is always great! It is worth being aware that the block the hostel is on is all under construction, so there's about 200 meters that seem deserted and you can feel lost. I think its perfectly safe, and the neighborhood behind is nice. Its a great walk down the river to the old town as well.

I loved the hostel. It wasn't in the most central location, but Bilbao is a very walk-able city. The staff and facilities were great. It was easily one of the nicest hostels I have ever stayed in! Two thumbs up!

This place is awesome. Very close to all main locations in the city. And if you don´t want to walk you have the subway very close. The staff is superb. Rooms have locks with security card and you have a locker (huge one, the bag fits with no problem) where you can use your own lock. Great value for money.

Perfect hostel with very freindly and nice staff. Very clean and well organized. Convenient location near an underground station, but one can also walk (around 15 minutes to 30 minutes) to Guggenheim museum, bus station and old town.

I liked the hostel very much I wish there was a stove to cook but that would be my only complaint. I would recommend to my friends and I will be back.

The woman on staff at the time was wonderful: helpful, cheerful, and full of enthusiasm about her city. The hostel was very clean and pleasant. Too bad we only could stay for one night.

Really liked the hostel for its clean and cosy environment. Not hard to walk to from the metro! A plus point would be its simple but tasty and full breakfast! Beverages are also free to consume :) very pleased with this hostel!!!

A nice hostel with good atmosphere, excellent staff and comfortable bed. I was not traveling in the high season so the hostel was quite calm and relaxed. The location is not the best, but it´s not bad. I walked back from old town in just 30-40 minutes. And anyways, the hostel is just a 10 minute walk from the subway, nothing too complicated. I think it was definitely value for my money.
