It would be awesome if they had more power plug, at least one for each bed , also if they could have a bedside light so that people catching early flight would be able to see or pack properly without waking up the nice Roommates , pool was nice , BBQ facilities cool, if possible to upgrade , would be good if they could include an elevator as the luggage is really heavy , breakfast very basic , bread, cereal, spread and milk , but really very nice staff , I will be back :)

We have power boards at reception. We use to have them in all the rooms but they get stolen. Just ask and we will provide you with one. Thanks for the review

a generally nice and affordable hostel. could be closer to the city and has a funny smell mind

Owner Comment (Hide)
Thanks. Not sure about the funny smell, Maybe it was the paint from the renovation?

The hostel has ensuites in bedrooms which is awesome - however, the hot water tap only opened enough to dribble and the shower was not very satisfying. There needs to be hooks on the back of the bathroom door and or a shelf that people can put their clothes on.. I had to put mine on the floor, which nearly got wet from the shower. The hostel was very clean, staff were friendly and accommodating; breakfast is included - a bonus.. However anyone could walk in or out unnoticed which is a security

Sorry the shower. Just let reception know and the handy man will fix it and if it can not be fixed we will be happy to move you to a new room. All guests need to come in the front door which is in clear view of reception. We also provide lockers in the rooms and common areas for all your security needs.

Can't sleep at all until 11:00pm when the pool shuts down, the staff seemed welcoming at first then the big guy was extremely rude and not helpful! Kitchen was good other than the theft from cool bag.

Owner Comment (Hide)
Thanks for the review. Yes the pool area closes at 11pm which we think is very reasonable. A lot of hostels can be noisey to 2 or 3 in the morning. The big guy is usually really good and has one of those personalities that once you get to know him you think hes great. We do ask all guests to lock up their food as it's sad but backpackers will steal from other backpackers. If we find these people we are very harsh with them. We evict them and also ban then from every hostel in this city.

Staff members were really friendly and helpful. Always tips for finding the best ways to somewhere and always on the reception. Room was clean, bathroom was tiny but new and clean, beds normal. Could walk in 15min to central station. Breakfast was free and totally okay :)

Not really clean. Only if you want a party hostel. People stealing

Owner Comment (Hide)
We have two full time cleaners that do a great job. It's a big place and we do our best to make it as clean and nice for all our guests. The first rule of backpacking is protect yourself. Always lock up your food and belongings as it's very sad but backpackers will steal from other backpackers. With 200 people staying at the hostel you always have a chance of having one or two inconsiderate people who will take others food if they get the chance. We sell lockable food bags at reception.

having to make your own bed is a little off-putting. It's a really large place so if you like the small time social feel probably not the best. My mattress had a spring poking through which wasnt terribly comfortable. Its reasonably clean though, about 15 minutes walk to the central bus/train station with lots of shopping etc...

Owner Comment (Hide)
Thanks for the review. Making your own bed is a part of backpacking. It's alos the only way to tell which beds are free. The staff would have been happy to swap the mattress just need to let reception know.

Had the best stay at billabong! The staff are great as long as you stick to the rules! Really friendly and such a laugh! If your staying in billabong then prepare to party! Social area is always outside by the pool, which is cleaned on a regular basis! Had the best time! If in ever back in perth I can guarantee I'll stay there again!

Friendly staff, good atmosphere. Bathrooms are clean. Kitchen is well equipped, and lockers provided in-room are in good condition. Poolside area is a great spot to hang out. Lots to do nearby. Certainly more than 15 mins to CBD(downtown), but not too much more. It's a nice walk, anyway. Breakfast and Facilities make the cost per night well worth it. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay 5/5- Would highly recommend!

Owner Comment (Hide)
Thanks for the great review. Yes it's more like 20 minutes walk to downtown but we have buses go past every 5 minutes if you don't feel like walking.

A well run hostel with a good atmosphere. Alot of young people about the place wanting to get drunk but the hostel seemed to manage this well. A good idea with the kitchen is that they give you a bag with your own dishes

Owner Comment (Hide)
It is a challenge making sure those people wanting to drink dont go to far and disturb the other guests but the staff do the best they can. Thanks for the review.

Hostel with good atmosphere, there seemed to be people mixing near the pool side. If you were staying here a while you would make friend easily. There is lots of info about activitie, free hostel buses that go to the beach

Overall an enjoyable stay, most the staff were pleasant and very helpful. However in our room, the sanitry bin was overflowing. We told staff that it needed emptying but they said that was for an outside company to do. A week later the bin had still not been emptied and we were told to use another bin which also never got emptied. Obviously not the nicest things. Other than that, great place to stay, good facilities and good vibes.

Owner Comment (Hide)
Thanks for the review. We had an issue with an off site company. The Bins should be collected every two weeks. The issue has been solved and the bins are now collected every two weeks.
