The staff are incredibly helpful--probably the best part of my stay. They helped me navigate public transportation and find local businesses. Breakfast is just white bread and coffee/tea. Not in the safest neighborhood, but close to everything downtown.

We read the description of this hostel and were expecting a party hostel, this is not a party hostel. The rooms are nice and clean and are quiet. There is a pool and a nice lounge where people gather but they are away from the majority of the rooms. The staff are really nice and helped us with all of our questions. We wanted to stay another night but they didn't have space. Not the best breakfast in the world but it's ok.

It's a great hostel, close to the center. The only thing i found difficult were the thin walls. I could hear man snoring three rooms down the hall. But otherwise than that, i loved it there.

This is the worst hostel we have ever stayed with. The room we booked was confirmed as a double private..what we got was two child beds covered in plastic. The room was not actually a room but a partition separating the hallway. There is easy access to the room by jumping over the half wall. The pool advertised is a filthy . bug infested cesspool about the size of a jacuzzi. Wifi is suspect at best. This place is a dump and the rates they charge are laughable

Great place. A lot of bathrooms and they are adding more! Only problem is wifi does not reach the room. Only great connection at the reception/living room/pool.

Great place. Unfortunately I was whacked into downstairs room between the front door -- where the buzzer rang non-stop all night -- and the kitchen -- with a fridge door that sounded like a jackhammer. Consequently. I got NO sleep all night. Nada. Zero. The woman who runs the place was most empathetic, apologized profusely and found me another place to stay. So if you want to party-heary this is an ideal place; if you want to catch up on your beauty sleep it isn't.

Excellent location, staffs are really helpful... The problem is the cleaning part... the bathroom was usually really dirty. Except for that... really nice stay.

Not a lot of offer in Asuncion for hostels but this one is well located to visit the main monuments, quite clean and dirty cheap.

Nice hostel, but the lockers seem to be not very secure (the one next to mine had a broken look). The location is great, very central in Asuncion and the staff was friendly too. Although there isn't really anything bad to report, it somehow felt a little bit boring (but maybe it was just Asuncion). The breakfast was moderate. Nevertheless, it seems to be the best what on can get in Asuncion.

Stayed here 5 nights. Good location, liked the tv room with heaps of dvds to choose from. Gets very hot in the hostel common rooms. Kitchen was very small with only one hot plate. Staff are great really friendly and helpful. Individual lockers keep own stuff safe. Pool could have been cleaner. When it rains water leaks through some parts of the roof but not places that matter really.

Great hostel with great atmosphere, felt like everyone there was york friend. The roof terrace is an amazing place for watching the sunset. I love Asuncion because of this hostel. The breakfast wasn't too good though, weak coffee and white bread.

Lilia, Olivia and the staff members are very friendly and helpful. The Hostel is a very beautiful building well located close to nice bars and restaurants. It is really clean and we would for sure stay in Black Cat if we return to Asunción.

On the plus side, this hostel is well located, good value, and the staff are exceptionally sweet and friendly. Downsides: walls are paper thin (it's loud), wi-fi does not work in many rooms, and smoking is common on the premises.
