Madaba is a much better choice than Amman for touring around Jordan. The hotel is 10 min walk from the church and city center. Friendly staff. The owner and his wife have made this place one of the best hostels we have stayed in. They really go out of their way to do all they can for you - i was sick on one of the days i was there and they gave me some of their own chinese medicine, very kind. The rooftop is fun to camp on - you get real beds & its much more spacious and clean than you would expect for "camping". Great value, great people, would recommend it to anyone 110% xxThe owner and his wife have made this place one of the best hostels we have stayed in. Was fun sleeping in the tents on the roof and the staff were very helpful in booking us taxis, cooking our dinner and cutting up our watermelon! Would highly recommend this place. The Black Iris more or less saved the vacation for me, when we our luggage was delayed. Odeh at the Black Iris found clothes and shoes that we could borrow, and kept in almost constant contact with the airport/airline also after we left Madaba. Other than that, the hostel is really nice. We spent one day in a a double room, which was super, with a good fan and nice bathroom. Then we spent one day in a tent on the roof, which was also a super experience.
