The location is great, the staff are friendly and helpful and the Sunday BBQ is great value. But be warned. This is hostel life at its most student-esque. Expect your food to go missing, piles of unwashed plates, wasters passed out on sofas and an owner who asks if you liked Bogota, ridicules you for saying yes and then (along with his drinking buddy Tim who owns The Plantation House) laughs himself stupid over you being violently mugged. Great first impression.

The owner and staff make this a welcoming place. It works well socially and is close to Medellin's night life and the Metro. The only negative was that there was one burglary from the hostel and two armed robberies of guests near the hostel. I was told that this was exceptional.

I liked the quiet, safe neighborhood, and the hostel was very quiet yet still social. Zona Rosa is an easy daytime walk or $2 night cab ride. The downside is that renovations were being done, but I never saw anyone working - in 2 hours they could get lights in all showers to make them available (needed!), have all sinks working, seats on toilets. Fans are needed in rooms. Staff is great, and nice areas to hang out with other travelers. Nice place and I would probably stay there again.

I'm not sure why this place is rated soooo high. It's definitely a party hostel... but is lacking in other areas. There aren't enough showers... or lockers. The worst was the renovations that were going on during my stay... early in the morning right outside my room (saws, drills, hammering). Would have been nice to get a discount or something for that.

Excellent stuff, Kelvin's usually on hand and is an absolute gem. 10 minutes' walk or so to the bars of the Zona Rosa, 5 minutes' to the supermarket, and just around the corner from the Pitstop if you have mates staying there. Currently refurbishing some parts, but this doesn't intrude much. Great TV lounge, though could maybe do with one or two more communal bathrooms.
