Loved my stay here. Booked for two but stayed for five. Social and laid back... close enough to all the bars but far enough away to have a night in. Bathrooms were clean. Nice tv room and a couple patios. Staff were great and always willing to help. Only downfall was that the WiFi wasn't always reliable.

Just a very nice hostel to stay. Friendly and helpfull staff. Clean. Nice atmosphere. And everything just works.

Black Sheep ended up being a bit more of a party scene than we were hoping for, but we had a good time nonetheless. The staff was fantastic and accommodating.

Internet was down, electrical plugs didnt work and most important, not a 420 friendly hostel, go for the pit stop, great wifi, swimming pool, basketball, volleyball, pool table, bar and a bit cheaper

Owner Comment (Show)
No we are not a 420 friendly hostel. Drugs are illegal. Smoke your drugs somewhere else. Also you were smoking in your room. The other problems have been fixed.

Most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept on in my life. It was like sleeping on a wooden plank. Other than that, really nice hostel.

The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful, but he only worked during the day. The staff that worked during the evening could sometimes be less helpful. We originally stayed in an 8 bed dorm but we were the last to check in and so there was nowhere to put our bags because the room was quite small. We then moved to a private room which was lovely. The hostel was cleaned constantly. The kitchen was big and had a huge fridge and loads of utensils as well as an oven.

We really enjoyed our time at Black Sheep Hostel. The room we were in was one of the best during our trip away. We found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. Good location, close to zona rosa and the metro. If you get a chance I would highly recommend going to a football match, we saw the two local teams and the atmosphere was great. We also thought that the real city walking tour was a must as gave a good insight into Colombia and Medellin.

Location and staff are really nice. If you are lloking for a calm place, thats not it. Its pretty noisy outside and also in the dormiories and people dont respect so much. They have a nice big kitchen and a good fridge

This hostel is located in one of the nicest and quietest neighborhoods in Medellin, 10 minutes walk from the Metro or 20 minutes walk to Zona Rosa. The staff is very nice, although half of them speak Spanish only, so be prepared to muddle your way through conversations unless Kelvin is there. There is construction going on now so it's a bit noisy, but it didn't bother me. Really nice atmosphere with people in Medellin to enjoy themselves but not get obliterated (stay in Casa Kiwi for that).

Some of the staff were really annoyed by new customers. rotten walls in my room and holes in the door. really unclean bathrooms. noisy roommates, they were getting around without any considerations of others, our food got stolen. unsafe rooms to let your stuff in, at least there is lockers. In a area not representative of the rest of city (El poblado is where the rich kids are at).

Stayed at the Black Sheep for two weeks to take Spanish lessons with Yadi (the owner's wife), and so glad I did. Yadi is an excellent teacher and very good at assessing your current Spanish skills and building on them. The location of the hostel was great, a short walk to the bars and nightlife but not right in the middle of the chaos. I think the location attracted the best crowd as well. Nice common spaces, and delicious Sunday BBQ.

I had a lot of problems with the receptionists, the first time I was there to get some information and the guy was rude with us, I didnt feel welcome there. Then the next day with the blond girl was another problem because she didn´t give us the right information about the Turibus (suggestion you need to prepare your staff with the right information about the turist points). Then the last day the owner says that he will book a taxi that will take us to the airport and he forgot it! we was late!

This place is marvellous. Owner Kelvin is fantastically friendly and helpful. There are plentiful common areas where socialising is easy, yet it's quiet enough to get a good sleep. The location couldn't be better - on a quiet and pleasant residential street, walking distance from the metro, a huge Exito supermarket (with attached Juan Valdez for emergency strong coffee) and Medellin's best restaurants and bars. Best hostel I've stayed in in six weeks in Colombia. Superbien!

Excellent hostel. Probably one of the better ones in South America. Big private rooms, super comfy bed and very clean. Reception, TV, kitchen and BBQ area all very social and well equipped. Close to metro line, supermarket, shops, restaurants etc. would absolutely stay again!
