The staff was very friendly and the location is really good, with many bars nearby. Just don't expect a party hostel. The atmosphere was very calm, at least when I was there ...

Really loved my stay here! This was my favourite out of all the hostels i've stayed at. The staff were really great, i made really good friends there, and just felt very at home and comfortable. Showers were pretty good, bathrooms were clean, beds comfortable, and the place had a lot of character. Free pasta, tea and coffee. But no wifi and only one computer - which can be annoying, but it made it a lot easier to chat to people.

Decent hostel with very nice staff. Only downside is no wifi and only one computer for the entire hostel.

The staff were really helpful in giving us tips on where to go and what sights to see. The breakfast was simple but good, and one of the staff even cooked supper for everyone (for free!) while we were there. Location was good, just a few meters from the u-train station at barbarossaplatz. All in all, good value for money.

Good hostel, nice and small, pretty good location only 20 min walk/4 tube stops from city centre, lots of little extras like book & coin exchanges & free pasta. No wifi only downside but a communal PC to use (which was always in use)

The only problem is that it´s a bit noisy there and when you share a room with many people you need to leave the window open, otherwise the air is too sultry. The staff is always willing to help and nice.

The staff held my bag for me past checkout on my last day, which was nice of them. The showers were cleaned when I arrived, and filthy by the time I left. There was free pasta, a definite plus! Earplugs were a must because of the noise from the street, but overall it was a very satisfying stay. They are located very far from the cathedral, but very close to lots of bars and clubs.

I was just a bit disappointed that there wasn't wireless internet. On Hostelworld.com, the hostel description said it had it. Otherwise, I liked the place a lot! The atmosphere was open and friendly, and I liked how small it was-it made it a very personal stay that was lots of fun.

Great hostel, friendly staff, great facilities, very clean. Only qualm was that as a single female traveller, I was sharing a dorm with only a guy. Not that there was any problem but I did feel a little uncomfortable initially. Would definitely stay again.

Bed space is comfy. Wash facilities are very good and kitchen/eating/washing arrangement is good too. The common area/kitchen is small enough that it is easy to start talking to people, as are the bedrooms so you won't struggle to meet others. The location is not too bad, you have tram stops just outside, a mcdonalds next door and plenty of bars and eating places within easy walking distance. Apparently its noisy outside at night but i sleep like a log so no dramas for me there. Cracking hostel!

Had a great time at Black Sheep! We ended up partying almost all night in the common room and it was a blast. But outside of the common room you could hardly hear anything so good for those that want to sleep too. Good hostel.

Stayed 1 night there in 6 bed dorms (window to the back): Nice stay, it s for sure the most comuncative hostel from the 3 hostels I knew in Cologne: Easy to talk to other travellers and staff in the comun areas (kitchen, balcony), so chance for solo travellers to meet somebody quite big. Many showers. No Wi-Fi (they told me they are thinking about install it soon), kitchen ran down, but with nevertheless with atmosfery and cozy. Cartravelers: Only from 18- 9h you ll find free parking around

Good hostel in an average city. I was looking for an additional city to visit in Germany, I picked Cologne, I was probably wrong. This hostel is well-equipped though, with comfortable beds, a nice kitchen, friendly staff.

Big advantages like location, free breakfast and low prices and lockers in the rooms with promotions make it attractive. Not the hostel that gets 85-100%. Noisy during the night cause of the tram. noisy metallic beds not ideal for a big person. it is not that difficult to install a wireless router since there is a connection and buy some more nice stuff for that common room. Lots of room for improvement with just a little investment in new stuff.

I don't like this hostel. Have just one computer with internet. You need to fight to have internet access. It is very loud and funny thing is that they sell earplug for EU$ 0,50.
