Welcome to Blackcurrant Backpackers, our newly refurbished hostel in the town centre of Taupo! Purposely renovated with the new backpacker market in mind (it’s a bunk free zone with made up beds and ensuite bathrooms!), we are also the closest hostel to the bus station and the supermarkets. We have an expansive deck with great views, BBQ, large garden and DVD lounge, just right for chilling out in. With the friendliest staff in town, we will make sure that you have everything you need for a great stay in beautiful Taupo.

The receptionist was delightful! One thing that could be improved is instructions on who to use the gas ranges. It was not obvious how to ignite them.

Things to Note
Please note that our office closes at 7pm on 24/12 and reopens at 9am on 26/12. We are also closed from 7pm on 31/12, reopening on 02/01 at 9am. Therefore, there is a minimum of 2 night stay over this period.
