Would stay again, one of the better hostels in Sydney and one of the best in kings cross.

Good location for clubbing, 20-30 mins walk from the center. Very friendly staff and hostel environment, it made traveling alone as a girl easy.

The hostel was great and I had a lot of fun living there for some days. I definitely recommend staying in this hostel and I will also come back. Nonetheless, I have one thing to complain about the cleanliness: By chance, I saw that a toilet was cleaned with a towel and that this towel was also used to clean the sink and the rest of the bathroom afterwords. It was even left on the kitchen table for a moment. Otherwise I have no complaints at all.

Guten Morgen Stefan, We are happy that you enjoyed your stay and had lots of fun at the Parrot. Your complain will be investigated and taken up with the cleaner. It's not acceptable to us. We wish you would have told us this while you were here. I can assure you it will not happen again. Have a great stay in our country. Cheers, BP team

pro: good location at Kings Cross (i.e. taxi/bus/train to the CBD!), very friendly and helpful staff, flexible with reception hours! thank you!! WIFI worked well! con: in my 10bed dorm most guests lived there permanently while working in Sydney. So if you're just travelling you don't meet many fellow travellers; lockers need some repair: very bad air in 10bed dorm unless you have a bed at the window

Guten Morgen Ulrich, Thank you for staying at the Blue Parrot. We are happy you enjoyed the location at Potts Point (not Kings Cross) and our award winning staff plus the free Wi-Fi. However you were misinformed about working people, presently we have 5 people in the whole hostel that work, there is another 45 travellers that you could have met. It may have been that all 5 stayed in the same room as you did as it is the cheapest room in the house. Cheers, BP Team

Nice hostel but overrated!! Common area are very too small and bathroom are very old and always wet every where. Very far from CBD. You could sleep very well because you can't use commun area afer 11PM.

Bonjour Olivier, We're sorry to hear you thought the hostel was overrated...we do not rate ourselves, our customers do, and if you look back at other reviews they generally have a great time and love the hostel. The CBD is only 1-stop train ride away or a 15 minute walk so we're confused that you thought it was far away. Also we're sad to see you gave us a low staff rating since our manager stayed up after-hours to check you and your girlfriend in late at night and we went out of our way to make special arrangements for you both when your original plans had fallen through. Hope you and your girlfriend enjoy the rest of Australia :-) Cheers, BP Team

A friendly, international staff. Excellent atmosphere and great information when for when you want to find something to do. Nightly staff lead outings to fun places in the area. Parking is hard to come by and expensive so driving is inconvenent but also unneccesary, that's not just this hostel but all of Sydney. Free parking is 20-30 min walk, the staff can tell you where. Two stoves in the kitchen is nice for when more than one person wants to cook. Very convienent location.

Normally the price would have been too much, but Sydney is expensive so it was a good price. Also the people and staff were so amazing it made it way worth the price. So much fun.

i was really impressed with the blue parrot, it really doe's deserve the hype...as a lot of reviews state it is the two sisters that make this place, they are always smiling and very helpful and this rubs off on their staff also. I wasn't in the best of health when i stayed and it was a nice place to chill but equally there are nights out every night so its perfect for both. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to any backpacker.

A fantastic hostel to meet fellow travellers with a large courtyard, kitchen facilities and an entertainment room. I Thouroughly enjoyed my time here, as did the people i met. i will however mention it is not the ritz. Beds, linen and bathrooms are outdated but are clean and functional. I would not hesitate in returning to the Blue Parrot, and would recommend to all solo travellers.

Nestled in the quiet of Potts Point, a peaceful sleep is guaranteed. Daytime offers supermarkets, cafés and restaurants at your doorstep and 5-minutes walking takes you to the train station. If you like, you can walk to the Gardens in 10, or be Downtown in 25. Some of Sydney's best nightlife is just 5-minutes away and social outings are organized nightly. The staff working here should be teaching hospitality. They excel at making you feel welcome and are helpful, knowledgeable and ever-smiling.

Loved this hostel! It felt like a home away from home and I met some awesome people there. Everyone was really friendly and the hostel was in an excellent location - close enough to the bars of Kings Cross but not too close so it was noisy. The staff were really helpful and the hostel itself was very clean. One of the best hostels I've stayed in.

The Parrot does an excellent job of introducing its guests to the city and its nightlife. The facilities also encourage guests to get to know each other and socialize. If you're into meeting new and interesting people this is great. It's not the cheapest, but the free wifi probably makes up for the cost differential. I would stay again.

this is a small hostel close to kings cross. The staff is very friendly, they take you out every evening if you want to, and make sure the hostel is quiet enough for the people who want to stay in. Big tv room, loads of dvd's, free wifi, a garden/courtyard, comfy rooms. Maybe only the kitchen is a little small... but realy a good place to stay here, would recommend it to everyone!

There are not so many bathrooms for the dorms, so many times you have to wait for the bathroom. That's not so nice.

Hi Danielle, Thanks for the feedback. You had the choice to stay in a room with a private bathroom for $2 extra, but you chose to stay in shared bathroom room. Appart from that we provide one full bathroom (shower, toilet and basin) for every 10 guests, that is according to Australian Heath Law.

I throughly enjoyed my time at the blue parrot hostel!! The staff were very friendly and would go out of the way to make you feel comfortable and take care of you. The organised nights out were extremely fun and they made sure to get everyone involved. One of the best nights was meeting two gentleman by the names of blandy and skippy who made me feel very welcome with whisky and cigars. I'd definitely recommend the blue parrot to anyone looking to stay in sydney and explore this wonderful city
