It was extremely quiet while I was there so was nice to relax. No push on day trips and when I asked they said walk to a rock pool. If you are a surfer then it will be fine but no lessons.

Our stay there was just amazing!!! I felt like we were in a hotel. It was so clean, the bathroom and the kitchen were spacious, the pool amazing, the common area wonderful and so clean! They have a great restaurant inside, the staff is lovely. If I could I would have stayed there for many more days and just enjoy the place!!

Becoming my home away from home. Great stay

My stay at Blue Sky Mining Backpacker's lodge was a disappointment. . In reality, the hostel is at least 45 minutes away from the city, and the only options for getting there are a R300+ shuttle, or a (very) sketchy MetroRail ride. The facilities of the hostel are good, and I enjoyed the two swimming pools. However, the lack of atmosphere and the SALE of forgotten items in the reception indicate that this hostel with a nice look is, unfortunately, ruined by an overly profit-driven management.

After returning from backpacking in Israel for 3 weeks I wanted to experience the same in SA. I must say Blue Sky far exceeds the standards of the backpacking places I found abroad. The place is fantastic and caters for all a backpacker could ever need. The bathrooms are 5 star - something normally neglected at other places. There is also a woman's touch in the decor which is nice. All in all the place is very well run and the food is great.

I think I may have been the only traveller staying there. Lots of friendly older locals but I was pretty bored. The rooms were nice though. Nice showers, great restaurant, and great views

Hi Emma, Thank you very much for your lovely feedback with regards to Blue Sky Mining's facilities and services. Indeed, you were one of the very few international guests that stayed overnight at the beginning of October 2015. However, the hostel was pretty busy reaching a 90% occupancy rate by having accommodated plenty local holidaymakers. Wishing you all the best. Romy

We really enjoyed our stay in Blue Sky mining. Everyone from the staff was friendly to us and we got a very good possibility to cook our meal in the evening (communal kitchen). The beach is next to the hostel. At our stay the beach was very empty and we didn't feel so safe there. So better you go to Durbans beaches. The location was very good except some small details (problems with locking the door, no working power outlets in the sleeping room). But for the low prizes, it was more than good.

Too far from city centre.

Hello Altair, Thank you for your feedback. As per Blue Sky Mining's description, the hostel is located 30km south of Durban City Centre. We do regret to hear that your choice made did not meet your expectations. Indeed, we do recommend to stay in the City rather if wanting to be close, close to all city attractions as well as night life. Wishing you all the best. Romy
