Staff is very nice and accomadating. Location is a 20 minute walk from the CBD. The gate, door, and rooms are never locked and there are no lockers. Some long term residents do not respect short term backpackers, will party until 5 am right outside the rooms and then come into the room laughing and shouting, and actually told me to F off when I asked them to be quiet. Showers can get fairly gross so bring shoes. Beds are clean, kitchen is clean, the wifi works everywhere and is fast and free.
Jonathan stayed up for us as we were not arriving until 11.30pm and last check in was at 8pm so that was very nice of him and he was very friendly and helpful. The hostel itself is quite dingy and feels dirty. The windows in our room didn't shut and the road was incredibly loud. There were no curtains so the room was very bright in the morning. I didn't sleep well at all. The hostel is mostly full of long term residents. There were no lockers and room was small.
Very cliquey. The kitchen isn't great for the amount of people staying there. Very basic just like all hostels. A nice communal living room, however if you aren't interested in watching some antisocial kid playing Call of Duty all day then I'd avoid it.
I atmosphere, friendly staff, good location.
Long termed hostel however everyone was really welcoming and friendly. Staff were great. If you're concerned about security then it might be an issue; no where to store bags after check out so had to leave them in a public place and no one locks doors. Location is good for a party area on a weekend however if you're wanting to stay in the city to explore for a few days, might be better to go more central! Otherwise a great hostel!!
This hostel was made wonderful by Lucile the hostel manager. She was attentive and caring, intelligent and organised, creating an atmosphere of genteel harmony that influenced everyone to be warm-hearted and instantly friendly. Some aspects of the building could do with maintenance and renovation, especially as it is such a magnificent example of Queensland architecture. Location in bohemian Fortitude Valley is a bonus, plenty of good places to eat, Rail Station close, nearby supermarket great.

Staff is wonderful , nice and cozy place to stay ! Near train stations and restaurants , very convenient.
The hostel is kept pretty clean but the beds are very uncomfortable and the springs dig into you. The road is very busy and noisy so keeps you awake at night, there are no curtains on the windows so people can see through the frosted glass and you are woken up in the morning. The gate slams every time someone comes or goes. The dryer doesn't work. The people there were very friendly though. Location okay in fortitude valley, short walk to the station and quick into city.
