This hostel was perfect. Right across the street from the surf, and next to markets to get food and beer. Pretty chill common area in the back with foos, hamocks, and no bugs. The beds are comfy as hell with a fidge in each room. AC? You betcha. Only wish they had more to cook with. - Bidnyk

While travelling through Costa Rica this was by far the best hostel we stayed in. Great owners and staff. The staff helped us book shuttles and outings. The hostel is behind the surf shop which makes renting incredibly easy and it's literally accross the street from the beach. Facilities in back include a daily cleaned stove and fridge which helps make the trip more economical and easier.

Cramped and dirty. I guess you get what you pay for. Good location right across the street from the beach and very close to a supermarket.

Great location right on the beach. The owners and staff will bend over backwards to help you book travel arrangements and guided tours. Blue Trails is a great place to chill with a fun atmosphere. I planned on only staying for a couple days but ended up staying for 8, it was so much fun there, I found it hard to leave. The facility’s where kept clean every day, 24 hour security, laundry service. With the surf shop attached it made it very convenient t to rent surf boards and get lessons. Hands down the b

My friends were skeptical about staying at a hostel instead of a hotel, it took a bit of convincing but when they got to Blue Trailz they were so impressed! The rooms were extremely clean with AC, a hot shower, a microwave and fridge in each room and clean linens. The management and staff were very friendly and helpful; our favorites were the surf instructors! They often sit and chill in the common area with you when they don't work. Best of all, it's located right across the street from the beach so when you're tired and hung over you can stumble over and lie in the sun! We met some amazing people staying at the hostel with us; can't wait to go back!

Blue Trailz is probably the best located hostel in Tamarindo. It is right across from the beach. It is definitely set up as a surfers hostel. It is a small hostel. I was disappointed that the lockers were quite small and set up outside the room. The rooms themselves were okay. Not great but okay. I had some bad luck when I was there and the power was out for a day and a half, which prevented us from being able to use our bathroom as it was pitch black.

Great prices and fantastic location! They have a night guard on duty and a hammock and table chairs/cooking area in the back. I was actually disappointed my friend made me move from the hostel to a pricier hotel. There was a problem with the door lock sticking and within a couple days of my first night there, but I was back 2 days later and they had someone working on it.

I lost my speaker and visa there. The outdoor garbarge was full most of the time. Pleasant space, although not much character.

I would have to say that my stay at Blue Trailz was fantastic. I have been traveling and staying at hostels for the past ten years and this has been the best experience. The owners and staff go above and beyond to make sure your stay is comfortable and all of your needs are taken care of. The surf instructors are very knowledgeable and the surf shop has everything you need to hit the waves. The hostel is clean, safe and located across the street from the beach. I will definitely return!

Staff was awesome! The loungeing area needs a lot of work... Maybe some couches, and hammocks! They need to fix or tighten the screws on some of there beds... Mine squeaked and swayed a lot. The best thing in all was the awesome quiet a/c units! I heard the owner was new so I am sure he is working on the improvements! I would stay again though... Right by the beach and some good restaurants!

Great location! Right across the street from the beach, and a mini-mart/liquor store. Chill place with a nice courtyard to hang out with other travelers. My top bunk was missing a panel so that was kind of uncomfortable but the 6 person dorm had a sink, microwave, and fridge in it. Bring a power splitter though, only 2 outlets in the room (4 total). Fun place if your by yourself or with some friends!
