You have to be a hardcore backpacker on a really low budget to stay here, I just didn't have what it takes! I booked for two nights but only stayed one, I found the place dingy, most of the staff were really nice but the man who checked me in was downright rude, there was only one mouldy shower and one toilet between 16 ladies and the reception area was always full of smoke. Maybe this place is your thing, unfortunately is it definitely not mine. However, perfectly situated close to everything!

Very recommended hostel in Amsterdam. Depending on the shifts they allow smoking in the lobby which is a nice place to retreat if you want to hang out with friends. Awesome people from all over the globe can be found here and the 16 bed-bedrooms were unexpectedly large, quiet, clean and with direct look on one of the main streets in the city centre. Go for it!

I stayed here for one night, and once was enough. The beds are uncomfortable, showers are gross, and the place smells like pee. The lockers are on the smaller side and will not fit your trekking backpack or suitcase. Bob's has all the basics and is one of the cheapest options in town, but it is grungy and I would rather pay a few euros more for a cleaner place with less than 16 beds in one room.

I was two nights at Bob's Hostel with a friend last week, atmosfere great at mornings with excellent breakfast included, toilet and bathroom in the room, good location, maybe too many stairs if you have a room in the 3rd floor. Really good in general

I received Bed Bugs from this hostel, we told the manager we could feel bed bugs in one room only to be put in another room that also had bed bugs. The supervisor at the time said to visit reception in the morning to discuss compensation only to be told in the morning the supervisor at the time was the manager and the new person in reception in the morning had no power to do anything. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

There's no 24/7 reception, but that is quite ok for the price you pay. Good if you want to stay in a warm place with no care for privacy and space. Very close to the central station and the interesting things are a step away from the hostel. The staff is normal, it's like they know you may go there just once to take a flight. Although the place as an overall is crappy, it is worth the money you pay.

On Hostelworld.com, after paying the deposit online, i had to pay 41.80e upon arrival. But at the hostel, the staff made me pay 45e. When i showed him my print out out of the online payment, he said "ohhh, i dont know why hostelword charged you the deposit cos we don't get the money from there." I mean you made an arrangement with Hostelworld, then its not my problem that the deposit is charged. That's for you to sort out! In the end i had to pay the 45e. It's like cheating me!

I really enjoyed my stay at Bob's Youth Hostel because of the experience. The lobby of this hostel was one of my favorite places in Amsterdam mainly because of the people that pass through there everyday. I met incredible people and learned a lot - probably the most important aspect of my traveling experience for me so far. The hostel is quite old, but is maintained well. I stayed in the main building (turns out theres another one behind the street, but is not as clean or nice) Def recommend!!

Easily accessible, confortable common space with cheap drinks, breakfast (tea/coffee+toasts+hard-boiled egg) included. We were accomodated in an other building in a parallel street. Clean dorms, with a bathroom in each one.

I stayed in the other building, which seemed to be cleaner and nicer than the main. Only one shower and toilet for a 12-14 bed dorm, which isn´t terrible if there´s just a handful of people in the room, but if it´s full, the morning can be a little hectic. Staff were pleasant, laid back. Breakfast isn´t anything special, but does the trick (boiled eggs and bread, juice, tea). Atmosphere is interesting...you´re allowed to smoke pot in the common room...whether that´s good or bad is up to you.

Great staying at bob's! Clean room altough there was only one toilet in a room for 16 .. But it was ok you can deal with that if you're not in a numerous group cause usually 16 people do not wake up in the same moment needing to pee :D you can smoke in the hall and have a good time, meet people or just relax! Little breakfast in the morning (2 slices of toasted bread, chocolate, an egg, coffe or tea). Nice staff and nice music!
