Only downside about this place was that it was a bit quite. Apart from that, a good hostel with friendly staff.
I really like this hostel. The staff are fantastic, the location is great and it fit my budget perfectly.
Great little hostel, only stayed 1 night but excellent value for JR pass holders.
I was very pleased with Bonsai Guest House! Stayed in a lovely private room with a double/bunk bed in it. Was perfect for 2 people but had space for a third! Beds were wonderfully soft and rooms had great A/C. Bathrooms and showers were very clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. Bonsai has a great location that we found on the first try after getting off the train in Osaka. If you're keen on seeing Osaka this is a great place to stay!
We have an extremely good stay in Bonsai Guest House for a various number of reason: 1. 有希さん (Yuki-san) who was one of the duty staff at the guest house was really welcoming and helpful throughout the entire stay. 2. The owners of the guest house actually live in the same building so it has a very personal touch to it. 3. The location of the guest house is extremely good: 桃谷駅 (Momodani station) was a JR station which is a loop around Osaka city. Getting everywhere is extremely convenient.
Location might be their best asset, just a few meters away from the JR Momodani subway station. However, there is a huge drawback which is that they do not check you in after 21:00 (pretty inflexible rule). We couldn't get a train to Osaka earlier so the first night we arrived at 23:50 and the place was closed with a sign saying: "We can not check you in after 21:00" (like almost don't even bother). I had to find a hotel at that time, terrible experience! We came back for the 2nd night.
Friendly staff, clean, good value. I stayed in an 8 dorm and each bed has curtains for privacy. Cool bonsai garden on the roof.
Location close to the train station was handy, and bathroom facilities were good. Wasn't the most welcoming hostel I have ever stayed in and both staff members we dealt with were not very friendly at all. Would look for somewhere else if staying in Osaka again.
Best localization ever. Nive and confortable hostel with very friendly and helpful staff.
A nice hostel. Is far away from the main attractions of Osaka, although very close to a train station. They do have security lockers, but no monitored storage for your larger suitcase/backpack. A small but atmospheric common room.
Excellent place!! The owner is very kind and even gave us some suggestions to other towns around Kanazawa. The facilities were neat and clean, excellent guest house!!!
Really great stay here. The hostel was a one minute walk from a JR station, which was great, but a little out of the way. Really great staff, beautiful bonsai collection, clean, good beds, great internet, spacious! Loved it
Rooms are cramp. Mattresses were placed on the floor instead of beds which makes it less hygienic. Also, the walls are thin so you can hear people talking and using the toilet outside.
This was a nice hostel in an area with a few different restaurants. The bunk beds were incredibly shaky and slightly uncomfortable.
Staff was great and super helpful. Showers, dorm and common are were all clean. The hostel is really quiet as Momodoni is a little on the outskirts. Plus side is the hostel is literally right around the corner from the JR station.
Less than 5 min walk from JR station and surrounding with convenience shop & reasonable price restaurants. Room crowded with 6 metal double bunk beds but love the kitchen facilities & common room. Good for a night before you get into the return flight.
It was my second time there, I still liked it!
Good hospitality and good location near a JR station. As a suggestion for the hostel, this was the only hostel-type facility that we visited that did not at least provide an option for use of towels (for a small fee). Our stay there was the only place we needed to use the towels we brought -- during a 3 week period. This is not a criticism, but just a suggestion that might be appreciated by other guests in the future.
