Location is great! Real party place and the atmosphere at night was nice:) Staff was relaxed, but showers were cold and you had to wait a long time. Breakfast is nice!
Party hostel, no good for tours etc but staff were extreamly friendly having a bar makes it easy to meet people and have a good night!
Excellent hostel with super staff! Felipe( the owner) is the man! So helpful and so good to his guests. He treated the entire hostel to a complimentary dinner one of the nights which was delicious! A very fun time was had here, extremely communal atmosphere for those looking to make friends!
One of the best hostels I've stayed in since I started travelling 3 years ago. Great vibe.. Great owner and staff... Location was good as well.

This is what all hostels should be like! Yes it's a party hostel but the facilities are great too, it's clean, the dorms are spacious, the design is really cool, staff are friendly and everyone's having a good time. It feels like everyone is part of the family. Perfect for solo travellers.
Had an amazing time in Books! The hostel was absolutely perfect, everyone was so lovely and friendly. Super well located & the staff are very social & organise lots of activities ☺
Family away from home! Stay no where else. Thanks Felipe the Captain, Liam, Andrew and Thibault. Great atmosphere, people and events.
Books is all about the vibe and the people that are working and staying there! If you want to party meet people and enjoy the vibes of Rio this place is the place to go . Close by bus to all attractions .

Awesome time for a party if you stay on a night when DJ Alan is playing, we were lucky enough to have him all week! Had out into Lapa afterwards, do your own research where to go as people in the hostel recommend close nearby which aren't the best. The cheese and ham toastie are a lifesaver in the morning. Nice hot showers.
We'd been told it was an amazing hostel by everyone, so maybe we were just unlucky but when we got there everyone was already in their little groups and didn't want to talk to new people. The staff weren't as helpful as hoped and the hostel itself wasn't that good either. We ended up moving down to a Chill on the Beach hostel in Copacabana which proved infinitely better
Very fun hostel, right in the centre of Lapa. Not one for sleep, but very much the best hostel for English speaking people, cheap drinks, nights out and meeting people. Great time
Such an amazing atmosphere. Great kitchen, outside areas and lounge room with big TV and did player. Good breakfast. The beds and pillows are the best I've had on my travels. The drinks are the best I've had in Rio. Really nice staff who are quite helpful. The owner, Felipe, is a legend! It's such a social hostel to stay in. I'd definitely go back!
Such a cool hostel. The location is ideal, just a small walk to bus station for trips to the beaches, and the local nightlife is pretty good too. The staff are all so friendly and helpful. Felipe the owner helped us with everything and anything we needed. More than happy to be of assistance. The party atmosphere in the hostel is great from around 7-11 and there's space to chill out if you don't want to drink too. Met some cool travellers there too, I'd recommend anyone in Rio to stay there!!
one of the funniest hostels ever. my stay there was so much fun, the staff are really what makes it so good. couldn't ask for a better hostel.
Books hostel is centrally located, near the arches, the parties, a supermarket and some banks. I preferred Copacabana area, but if you want to go to Lapa, location is good. This hostel has good facilities and is all about partying, literally. Music really loud until 23:00 and everyone is there to party. Don´t know if it was coincidence but 90% was from the UK, and I prefer cultural diversity. All in all, good for party people. To see Rio in all its perspectives though, there are better places.
Books has been my favourite hostel for the whole of Latin America. Excellent for single travellers and groups. They have a perfect social areas and rooms to chill, good kitchen, comfortable beds and Felipe is easily the best host I have ever had. Alongside his brilliant staff he will ensure your stay in Rio will be the best it can be.
Great hostel for socialising and if you want to party every night - if not it is a little noisy. The location feels a little unsafe at night and is not so close to the beach. However the staff are very friendly, it was pretty clean and if it is what your are looking for - there are a lot of westerners.
Great hostel for meeting people. The common area and bar are really nice. location is also sweet. Showers were a pain at times with cold water. Would for sure come back again.
Always a fun place to stay with a great breakfast
