I really loved my stay! But...as the hostel is very popular, there are never enough bathrooms for everyone and you`ll have to wait for your shower.

Owner Comment (Show)
I am changing it soon Gudi! Promise. On Oktober I will renovate the house and provide two more bathrooms!

Books Hostel attracts awesome people. Don't stay here if you don't have the motivation to get out and about regardless of how awesome your hostel is. I barely left on account of all the amazing conversations I was having with the people there. There's a party every night of the week until midnight, so if you need to sleep early maybe not the best option, but if you're there to party, it's never lacking! Great time, great location, great people, stay here!

Great location, close to the city center and famous Lapa parties. The doorm has enough space but is unfavorable placed above the smoking area. Its a great place to meet people and have a conventional chat. Great owner always in good mood, staff could not convince me when we arrived!

I loved staying at Books Hostel! The owner Felipe and all the receptionists really make you feel like at home. The bar prices are more than fair plus you're allowed to bring your own beverages (which shows they are not just trying to make money off the travellers). My first day there they had organised a jam session from 4pm-11pm and a lot of Rio locals came as well - awesome! Last but not least, they probably had the best breakfast I've had during my 10-week-trip through SA! I'll be back!

The best hostel I have experienced on any continent. You can chill, have a lot of fun, laugh, have few drinks, go on organised activities and on and on. Staff are incredible so helpful friendly, Felipe makes you feel like part of his family! Great right by lapa and Santa Teresa great nightlife and buses so accessible for everywhere else in city. Awesome breakfast. Really clean throughout. Great bar and atmosphere. Can't say enough for it, recommend it to anyone going to rio and I will be back :)

The staffs are really friendly. They made a great effort to make you feel like home and get to know you. They know everyone's names!!! The place is clean and has lots of characters. There's a party from sundown until midnight every night if you're looking for place to party and get to know other travelers.

This has been our favorite hostel so far. The staff are so friendly and helpful and everyone staying in the hostel went out together as a group in Lapa every night (not the kind of place to stay if you want an early night). We were there for three nights and really enjoyed it, great breakfast and located really near to Santa Theresa which is beautiful. I would recommend this to anyone looking to meet new people. Would also recommend getting taxis home after going out.

Books does a great job of suggesting activities in the neighborhood and throughout the city. Each night they have several suggestions for where to go out and each day the owner, Felipe, helped me to find day trips. I had a great time at Books and Lapa was an awesome place to go out dancing and just enjoy the local music.

First place I've ever been that truly deserved a 100% rating! Great location, perfectly clean bathrooms/toilets, free activities and delicious food for little money in the evening. But the best thing is the (by far) most friendly, helpful, experienced and accommodating staff I've every met! (Especially Felipe, the owner). They'll be able to help you with just anything you might need. The place also has a small bar (very low prices) where everyone in the Hostel gathers, GREAT to meet new people.

Awesome hostel! Staff were great, very helpful. Philip and Alex were so chill and awesome to hang with. Beds were normal and bathrooms were cleaned daily. Great atmosphere, nice place to both chill and drink. You can also just walk down the street to catch a bus which takes you all around the city, or even just stay in lapa where most of the bars are. Great location. Awesome hostel, would definitely recommend!
