A great place to stay for the sights and a night out at Lapa. The staff couldn't be more helpful or friendly and make you feel welcome as soon as you walk in the door. Great communal areas and a good breakfast. It's the people that make a place and they have the right people.

Really good hostel in Lapa, the only remark I have is that there are not enough toilets and showers, which is a problem during rush hour. As for the rest, great hostel.

THE MOST PARTY HOSTEL I HAVE EVER STAYED IN. Loud music from 8 am on Sunday... till approx. most days 3-4 am! Nice people, but a total party place ... NOT for me ! Excellent breakfasts. Great location to get about to different parts of Rio from, but a busride from Copacabana & Ipanema.

Books was amazing. The staff was awesome and made us feel right at home. Lapa was a good home base location. I loved the art and the vibe! Definately an unforgettable experience.

I agree. We are having problems with the cleaning employees and I will try to fix it as soon as I can. Sorry for this and hope you come back again to give us the change to prove we are better than that.

It is located in the party area, people are really helpfull and it's a good place to stay. I'ts a bit far from the beach, but good to go out because is near lapa area. good latin atmosphere.

the hostel is more in Lapa, not in Santa Teresa and is a party hostel. if you want to rest - it's not good place. if you're looking for party - it's place for you.

This hostel is so overcrowded that it is probably a fire hazard. Sometimes people have to eat breakfast sitting on the ground. There are even triple bunk beds in some of the rooms. Also the toilets constantly stopped flushing which quickly got disgusting.

Great Hostel, if you intend to party; not so good for beaches. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Alex especially, as he went to the bank with me and translated to for me, which helped me allot.

Books hostel is a very chilled out hostel. It truly has the feel of a community. I stayed here for a week and enjoyed every day of it. The staff are very helpfull and friendly and just hang around with the guests. This, together with the open bar and music every night, makes sure that each night is a party. But if you dont feel like partying, dont worry, then you can also watch one of the many movies or read one of the many books they have in the common area.

Books Hostel is located on the border of Santa Teresa and Lapa, so it's a bit far from the tourist spots like Copacabana, Ipanema, but this zone has its own cool vibe. It is situated in an old but refurbished building which is packed with works of art. So it has a really good atmosphere. In the evening they open a bar with good caipirinhas. This is a perfect opportunity to meet other travellers. The breakfast was really good as well. The only downside is that it can get quite warm in the rooms.

Loved my stay here! Its a great party hostel in Lapa, and a good location for going out. They sell cheap drinks every night, so its a great place to get the party started, and as there is breakfast too, and good common areas, I didn't really need much else. I had only two nights in Rio, so was aware I wasn't going to fit in a lot, but I took the tours offered at reception, and felt as though they really helped me to have a great stay in Rio. One of the best hostels I've stayed in on my trip!

It was a great experience, cool people and good for the money. It was a little hot in the common area but outside of that it was great.
