One nice young staff member, location terrible and were optimistic in how long it took to get to Amsterdam centre, coffee was like a shot and toilets were worse than the battle of the Somme

Amsterdamse Bos is a great camping site to visit Amsterdam from if you're willing to spend a little money and time on public transport. Takes roughly one hour to get from the camping to the Central station (20 minutes walking to the metro stop + 30 minutes on the metro itself). The showers and toilets are not integrated in the bungalows but rather in a separate building, but still close enough to not be annoying. If hostels in the city are too expensive for you, this place is a viable choice.

Way too expensive for what you get, but it was still a nice experience. You do pay for showers €1 = 6 minutes. Sheets are not included but there are blankets and pillows so if you have a sleeping bag it's comfortable. The kitchen area is gross as are the bathrooms (bring toilet paper). But it was very quiet and you can take the metro straight out. If they had charged less they would have had full ratings.

This is waaaaaay outside of the central part of the city. We happened to stay when the metro was being worked on, so it took us an hour and a half to get into the center by bus. That was very annoying. But it's a quiet campsite with lovely paths to walk around on and also horses to ride. But, the metro stop is about a 15-20 minute walk away. So there will be lots of time spent traveling if you stay here.

Not clear at the website the estatus of camping in a forest (rainy city+dirty floor....), need coins for taking a shower, no paper in toilets, very expensive food and goods at the reception shop, very short time of open reception (from 9AMto 7PM, to check out you have to wait it to open por they keep your ID, and can't buy shower coins out of those hours) so if you want to see the city you can'tcan't. It was also too far away from the city center, 1hour and 30 mins by bus to the center

Great Place!! I wish the Metro line was working. Was little cumbersome to travel to and fro to Amsterdam central station. Nevertheless a great place to camp.

Nice bungalows, the staff is not the most friendly in the world and the camping is very nice but pretty far away from the center (8/10 km)

Complicated parking at our cabin if any car parks at the neighbouring cabin - both-way entrance should be enabled.

Wouldnt recommend. Charged for everything, even a hot shower. cabins are freezing (you need to pay for heating) and you are not provided with bedding unless you hire it. Basically you pay to breathe. The location was terrible, we were not informed that the metro line was down and thus what would've taken 35 mins to get into town it now took us an hour plus a 15 minute walk. I had lost my bag on a bus and when asking for help to make a phonecall the staff simply said 'we don't make phone calls'.

The text in the add did not describe the room very well. - it should have been more specifik on what you got, we sould never have picked such a poor room if I knew. Sekond, due to the bostel had many young people who drink / shout and sing at night we did not get much sleep the first many hours of our stay. Also, these people left a terrible mess of garbage infront of their house, and never bother to clean it, the staff at the sight didnt do it too, even if they passed it many times.

the site automatically selects the whole cabin so be careful when booking. staff was rude at the desk and even tho they said I just had to check in by 10am the next day for a late arrival...their maintenance woman pounded on my door at 8. she was just doing what they told her so I can't blame her, just the policy

You should not expected to buy your own toilet paperpaper - this is more a camping site than a hostel which is not clear from the hostel world page. Deposit for everything, even the towels?

Lack of toilet paper, staff were rude after they figured out we did not speak Dutch, fees were very high for basic things like washing clothes and collecting sheets for the bed.

The grounds at this hostel are beautiful but it is a very long journey to Amsterdam central. You need to buy toilet paper and coupons for 6 minute "hot" showers that are rarely even slightly warm.
