Pluses: Very nice and helpful staff, great location if you want to stay in the ciudad vieja. Minuses: while the bedroom was clean, the bathrooms, kitchen and common are areas are not at all.

Beautiful hostel in a great location. The building is beautiful with balconies over looking the streets below. The staff were friendly and helpfull. This is a small hostel, so it doesn´t feel very busy. The kitchen is a little cramped but ok. It is a good base for exploring the city.

Lovely large female dorm room with nice windows. The building itself is really nice to stay in, and close to everything you would want to visit in the city (including little empanada place on a corner). I emailed them before I left to organise horse-riding and, despite continually telling me they could do it, they weren't able to do it when I arrived and then appeared to forget my request every time I reminded them. They also smoked in the common room overnight. Good breakfast.

Great choice, great location, hopefull staff... ok, so i have marked it down for fun, but Montevideo is a sleepy city and i cannot imagine many hostels being particularly lively. They did offer free tango lesson and got a teacher in and the breakfast was great! Lockers and keys provided was a nice security touch and bang in the middle of where you want to be for exploring the city!

A good hostel with a good location . Only in the weekends en in the nights it was in my opinion too quite in Montevideo also in the street with shops in front of the hostel (especially on Sunday). Everything was very clean. Only the pillow on the bed could be better. This was too small and too soft for me.

Mixed feelings. To our dismay, our first night the staff threw a party and made a ton of noise into the early hours of the morning. Our room (the suite) had an unbearable sewer stench emanating from the bathroom (we ended up buying incense to cover it up!). That said, Sunday was quiet and peaceful, which was nice. Also, the staff were all very friendly and helpful, suggesting places to go and telling us how to get there. If they'd tweak a few details I'd recommend this hostel to others.
