The staff is very friendly! Luna and Paulo are always ready for any explanation or for having fun and going with the group to a party. Great happy hours in the hostel. It´s a fun hostel, but not noisy, everyone is respecting the rules. I had a great time here and on my next trip to Brazil I will certainly go back to this hostel!

This place is by far the BEST hostel I have every stayed in. The staff are incredible. They went out with us at night, which made me feel so much safer to be around people who knew the neighborhood. Jorge helped me make contact with my next hostel because I don´t speak Portuguese...such a big help!!! The hostel is in a perfect location!!!! If I come back to Rio, I will be staying here for sure! Thanks again to everyone at this hostel that made my visit so memorable : )

We stayed here for 5 nights as a "couple" and LOVED it. The location is good as there are lots of buses on the door step which take you all round the city. When it was quiet they let us have the dorm to ourselves..which was wonderful! The staff are accommodating and very friendly. Get Luna to book you on the "FAVELA" tour, its a highlight, and money goes back into the community. Stay at Brazil Hostel, its Amazing! Thanks guys, Jamie and Marc xxx

After 8 1/2 Mths travelling with no probs we were MUGGED 100 yards from the hostel at 2pm in the afternoon by 15 street kids, despite my being a large, fit skinhead! The police said the area is VERY BAD and the street kids are organised. (Note: There are a lot of male & female prostitutes around). The hostel itself is clean, the staff friendly, the breakfast is basic, a bit loud but a good social place.... if you stay here be ready even in daylight with other people around. Read Owner Comments

I amazing the brazilhostel. Near the dowtown, Lapa's Archs, metro. You can cook your own food. Is a hostel to younger people and simple too. The staffs are very friendly and sympathetic. When arrived there, Jorge, who is the manager, said for me : ?here you?re at home?, e is like this: A BIG FAMILY. Thanks for all: Jorge, Ana Paula, Pablo and Luna. I recommend the brazilhostel!
Adorei o Brazilhostel. Perto do centro do Rio, arcos da Lapa e do metrô. Você mesmo pode preparar a sua comida, e assi...

Great way to experience the real Rio. Much more interesting area than most hostels because its set just down from the Lapa arches, where every friday the best street parties go down and the whole place just buzzes. Nice social feel with a great patio. Only slightly annoying thing was that you\'re not allowed to bring your own alcohol into the hostel - you have to buy from their bar - but then if you factor in how much cheaper this is than the big dirty horrible hostels its not a problem.

This hostel is brilliant. The staff are so friendly and make an effort to get to know each person. The location is great for going out at night and the lapa party on Friday night is amazing. I found the common area great for meeting people and the staff organise plenty of nights out to the samba club etc. All in all a great place to stay.
